He was a TV presenter (most popular in teh 80's and early 90's) and did some radio stuff, but as Murray said, was most famous for his involvement with Joy Division/New Order and the Happy Mondays as well as the Hacienda club in Manchester! I visited the Hacienda a few times myself but found it to be a little too out of control for my liking! (I wasn't one of the drug culture guys that were frequenting it in the late 80's early 90's)
