I'm guessing I'm either doing something wrong here or out there somewhere is a great piece of freeware/shareware that will make life better.

If I select that I want the computer to download the weather from the Internet, I get a fairly reasonable download. However, ten to fifteen minutes into the flight, the skies clear and all weather fades away. How can I stop this happening? Is there a way to force FS to load up new weather or to carry on with the existing weather until it has a real update?

Phil,

Well, there's a tick box in weather (in FS2004) to make it download it every 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I'm not at home at the minute so can't give specifics.

There are at least two METAR retrievers for FS200X, but the one I use and know best is FS-Meteo - http://www.fsmeteo.com/.

You'll need to have FSUIPC installed for it to inject the weather (it can download from it's own servers or from VATSIM or IVAO) into the weather tables, but if you are already an onliner you'll already have it...

Well, I also like using weather download but have not seen this error. At me (I guess) when I enter a different weather scenery, the sky fades for a second and the new scenery appears on the sky within some seconds. I know its sometimes strange to fly over an overcasted area where for some seconds the sky clears up and will be overcast again.

In FS2002 there is not an option like that, it just happening automatically.

This is my chosen solution having discussed the issue here and in other places. The program seems to do what FS2002 should do auytomatically. Ifit fails to succeed I'll of course let you know. Thanks for the advice guys.
