Dash8 Autothrottle
« on: February 07, 2008, 08:50:18 pm »
I have just installed the dash8-400 on my new PC and the autothrottle does not work, you cannot even select it on the panel. I have resolved the problem, it is in the aircraft.cfg file, in the [Autopilot] section the line autothrottle_available is showing =0 it should be =1,this will allow you  to select IAS, however it will still not work as the following  lines in the [Autopilot] section need to be edited to read,
autothrottle_takeoff_ga=8
autothrottle_max_rpm=18000.0
At the moment the max_rpm is set to 90, if the .cfg file is edited to include these corrections all will work fine.

Thank you Bruce ! It is very hard to setup Autothrottle on turboprops sometimes. Is that setup produces stable speed for the whole flight pattern ?

I have not done a flight with these settings, but they should be OK, I have tried the autothrottle on the ground and it seemed OK.

I have just completed a couple of flights using the Dash 8-400 and the autothrottle performed correctly during the climb, cruise and descent, the only anomaly is when you reduce your speed to the mid hundreds the autothrottle hunts quite badly (I think all turboprops do this), so you have to disconnect the autothrottle and operate the throttle manually, which is not realy a problem.
