PMDG 747x

I just purchased my PMDG 747 for fsx and I was browsing through some tutorials because i dont know how to do the start up. Most of them say the first thing to do is open up the battery socket (right click) then click it to turn them on. I attempt this but it doesnt let me open my overhead panel the screen just goes black where the overhead should be. So i right click to bring up the over head panel and none of the buttons work. I try loads of button on the main panel aswell and there are only a few that function. Can anybody help?

Hello Callum,

Did you tried it under FS2004 as well ? I do not have the FSX version but its quite easy under FS2004. There is a mini-panel near the top of the screen, where you can call the Overhead panel with the OVHD button.

The right click should work only on the left-right turning knobs, and on buttons that have a protector cap. You can open the protector by the right click. At some buttons it is different in the Virtual Cockpit, because you can activate every buttons and knobs in the VC too.

If you are able to turn ON the batteries you should do more clicks on the electric panel for example to power up the plane. And finally, I advise to learn&do this tutorial:

I haven't got FS9. I tried and tried and tried again but the buttons still do not work and it frustrates me with the monney I spent on this.

OK , from reading your story I can imagine there could be one solution to offer even though we (Me & Robert) don't have FSX.

First things, first. Unistall the PMDG add-on. Then re-nsitall it.
Furthermore, if this is not a paid-for PMDG then there are problems with most of the editions out there. They usually mean that the main screens start operative but then go black and there's nothing you can do to bring them back to life. Only solution to this one: Get a different version.

Regarding switching from panel to panel, there's also a keyboard shortcut, in case you don't see the little 'panel selector' buttons. This is done by pressing "Shift" and one of the numerals on the top row of the keyboard (not the ones in the num-pad).
Try it out and you should find which shortcut opens which panel.

If all of these fail, then let me know what exactly happens and I'll scour the fora to find you something.
