Agusta A109 helicopter updated!
« on: August 10, 2010, 03:55:40 pm »
Those of you who enjoy flying helicopters will be pleased to hear that our EuroHarmony Agusta A109 has been updated and now works in FSX as well as working even better than before in FS2004  ;)

I have added a clever gauge which was designed by Flightsim guru Rob Barendregt, which enables much more precise control when hovering and transitioning to forward flight - this hugely improves your ability to control the helo in FS2004 (FS9 helos are generally viewed as a nightmare to control) and also in my view improves default FSX behaviour too.

I have also taken the opportunity to make the helicopter FSX compatible, and I've added FSX viewpoints too for your enjoyment!

There is a checklist you can access on the kneeboard as well as some useful documents that you'll find in the aircraft folder, as well as Rob's README file to give you a good idea how his gauge works and its strengths and weaknesses - please read this before posting any questions about hovering the helo ;)

If you've never tried flying a helicopter before, now's the perfect chance to learn, there are instructional articles in the learning centre in FS, numerous articles and websites on the Internet, like www.hovercontrol.com and a whole new world of fun to explore! Here at EHM you can use our helicopters on any Class 1 flight, so get exploring  :D

Thanks a lot Dominic, I'll tried when I was finished with the airplanes... I mean maybe next month or more, nevertheless, thanks for your work  ;)

Get x-plane for helicopters.

Seriously.

Wait for v10 to come out though, it's soonish.

Looking great, Dominic!
Actually, I was just thinking about getting me a set of pedals, this coming summer holidays.
So now I have an additional reason :)

Cheers!

I'd love to get a proper helicopter controls set-up with a separate collective, I've seen one at a Flightsim show a couple of years ago but it would take up a bit too much room I think... It doesn't seem quite right controlling a helo with a CH Yoke  ;D

LOL
True, but it's even worse with a CH Yoke (or a Saitek, in my case), WITHOUT the pedals  ;D
And any control is better that trying to helo with only the keyboard ...  ::)

(I found another link yesterday, but now that I clicked on through to the checkout page, it says they "temporarily take no orders"... ???)

Get x-plane for helicopters. Seriously.

Trying to learn to fly helicopters has been a frustrating experience for me, but one that I periodically try to overcome by starting over again. Do you mean using X-Plane would significantly help? If it is, then I might try it indeed...

Andrei,

Keep on trying, it's great fun once you get used to the helo controls. My advice: use a joystick instead of a yoke. And use pedals!!! You can't control a helicopter without them!

Like Dominic said FS9 is a nightmare ;), so i suggest FSX

I recently bought the Cerasim Bell 412, witch is a real stunning helicopter. Having big fun and very hard times trying to land on the oil platforms in the northsea in NL2000v4.

x-plane Helicopters fly more like real helicopters than msfs helis do.

That said, and because of this, I find flying helicopters in x-plane to be more challenging.

Best heli simulation would be dcs black shark, but then you just have the one chopper and it's a military sim.

Here's a good article on how to fly choppers in x-plane.

http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=32267

As niels says - you can't fly a heli without a full set of controls.

Hi Dominic,

Check out the below if you have some spare time and are not afraid of some serious DIY:

http://www.rogerdodger.net/diyflightsims/ez_helicopter.html

A helicopter setup made out of what looks to me like a Saitek (X52??) stick and throttle and a set of pedals, all integrated on a sturdy pvc pipe frame.

Looks great to me and may be just what you are looking for (as well as for others perhaps)!

Cheers,
Stef
