A selection of alpine views
« on: February 11, 2011, 03:39:41 pm »
As I have been flying recently in the European Alps and the Canadian Rockies I thought I would post up a couple of the nicer screen grabs taken while enroute in the last week or so.

So....enjoy! I'll add a few more later as I have some more interesting routes planned and will be installing UTX/GEX Europe shortly and it will be interesting to see the difference. Currently only REX+Overdrive for FSX in use.

I cannot emphasize enough what a HUGE difference the REX software makes to the flight environment  ;)

Yup, I have REX for both FSX and x-plane and the textures certainly look lovely.

My only gripe is that the FSX version takes ages to load textures.

Nice pics there Ted.

Just so others don't misunderstand the lengthy initial load only takes place when a theme is selected/created and then installed-all prior to running FSX.

Once the theme is done FSX startup is as normal every time until you decide to change the theme.

While you can use it that way, if you want the theme to match the real world weather for the location you're flying, then you would need to do this every flight.

I do it this way on x-plane and the load times there are much faster, allowing this feature to be used.

You're right though, On FSX because the load times are just enormous, you end up leaving them installed on a particular set for some time.

Look lovely in all the sims (available for FS9 too).

Lovely shots there, Ted!

As you know, I'm a "mountains" man, so you couldn't make a better choice as far as I'm concerned :@
