Test your AntiVirus

Do a little test to your antivirus:

Open notepad, and copy the following text into it.

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

Save it as teste.com

If your antivirus assumes teste.com as a virus, it is working fine, otherwise change your antivirus.

(The file teste.com will not affect your computer. It just tests your antivirus application. This files exists in Panda Antivirus Website just to test it).

Talking about Notepad, ready for some magic?

- Open notepad
- Write down: "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)
- Save it (the filename doesn't matter)
- Open the file, et voila!

Tested under Windows XP

Both my scanners got it (AVG7.5 and aSquared Free), although I don't run them in the background (manual weekly scan).

The moment I pressed enter to save the file Norton popped up like 1/4 of a billion second afterwards, to tell me it put the file in quarantine and destroyed it :o

It worked perfect with my Norton. Thanks for the tip.

Good pilots keep their number of landings equal to their number of takeoffs. Takeoffs are optional but landings are Mandatory.
