I finally finished flying the Tour of Greece today. It seemed to take forever, but some of the scenery definately made it worth it. Here are some of the screenshots I took:
On the first day at Athens airport. A couple of Olympics, and an Emirates A330 parked at the terminal.
I encountered a storm on the first flight, over the Aegean Sea en-route to Limnos.
The next day I started out early. Dawn at Limnos was quite misty. That's a turkish Island in the background, one whose name I can't spell. The ancient ruins of Troy are not far from here.
The island of Kasos is my favourite island of the tour, completely surrounded by turquoise shallow sea.
An incredible sunset as I flew north from Crete to Paros. Luckily there was enough light left when I reached Paros - no runway lights!
Pictures of this tour wouldn't be complete without this. Probably the scariest airport in the world to land at, at Kithira.
As I headed further north I was surprised at how mountainous parts of Greece can be. The weather was quite bad here, my landing at Ioannina was difficult, with cloud down to 1500 feet.
On the last leg of the tour I decided to see some of the sights around Athens. Here is Dionysos mountain, strangest thing I have ever seen, named after the son of Zeus apparently.
And then of course the most famous sight in Athens, the Acropolis, with a nice view of the city in the background.
Well after that I can't wait to get back into jets again. I think maybe I will take the Greek livery 757 somewhere.
