Thank you David,

Yes I hope to be there for the next leg.  It is a bit late for me but worth the "suffering".

I notice that the Mumble Website is linked onto the attachment you sent me. Thanks.

Can you direct me to the site where we can put our names on please.

Regards,

Dirk

Thank you Andrei and E-J.

I am trying to set up Mumble and have followed the instructions as set out in the guide..

However I get a message "Wrong certificate or password".  How can I fix this, please.

The message is attached in case it can help.

Regards

Dirk

Mumble uses a certificate instead of a password. So if you entered a password when defining the user, please edit the user and delete the password.
You should then be allowed to connect, albeit with some error messages, but you'll connect anyway. Just click OK, or confirm, or whatever gets you through to the next round, accepting that there is a certificate error.
To get rid of the ("wrong certificate") error messages, once connected, right-click on your username, and choose "register", or "self-register" from the context menu that appears. That will automatically create your certificate, add you to the Mumble Database, and will free you of the error messages in the future.

Thank you again E-J.  I wish it were as simple.  At no stage during the setup did I use a password.  The setup was done strictly to the letter as set out in the guide.   I  tried again this morning but to no avail.  What to do?  I am going to delete mumble completely and re-install again.
I want to fly tonight but I want to do it with Mumble working.

By the way, what time has been decided on for tonight's departure? please

Greetings

Dirk

Maybe, Dirk, if you edit your user details and remove the hyphen, you'll be able to connect. I see in the Mumble log file that you've connected as EHM2581_Dirk in the past... so you were issued a certificate at that time (although it probably does not exist on your compute anymore, since the major upgrade).

From that same log file, I indeed see you tried 7 times this morning; to no avail:
Quote
<W>2013-12-04 07:44:44.960 1 => <61:(-1)> New connection: ***.***.**.**:*****
<W>2013-12-04 07:44:46.314 1 => <61:(-1)> Client version 1.2.5 (Win: 1.2.4-194-g829d4c6)
<W>2013-12-04 07:44:46.501 1 => <61:EHM-2581_Dirk(-1)> Rejected connection: Wrong password for user
<W>2013-12-04 07:44:46.643 1 => <61:EHM-2581_Dirk(-1)> Connection closed: [-1]

It says "wrong password for user", so that's why I assumed you had used a password. But that might just be a generic error message to reject the connection for other reasons as well (or maybe this version does not accept an empty password field, or it fills it with a space character, or... etcetera)

What surprises me is the client version: 1.2.5, where 1.2.4 is the latest. So digging around for that, I noticed at the Sourceforge site that you have the option to choose from two downloads for Windows: "1.2.4 (stable)", and "1.2.4-194-g829d4c6 (Snapshot)". From the last part of the line in the log file, I assume you took the latter one, where I know for sure I downloaded the first (stable) one. If you are to re-install the Mumble client, be sure to download the stable version, as that one is the official release one (the other one is a pre-release for 1.2.5, I think).
Here's a link, since I had it open in another tab already: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/

MMmmhhh ... still the same issue, I see ... even without the hyphen, and with client version 1.2.4.
I'm at a loss here, for now..

I tried to install the Mumble.com version (that blue one, form your screenshot) here at work, but the port is blocked on our network, so I cannot test (connection timed out). :(
Guess I'll have to go back to work and look at it this evening, then ;)

Thank you for the information feed-back Peter. A long time to wait but will be worth it I'm sure

E-J. I have had a support conversation with Mumble.  It seems a bit more complex than we anticipated.  Not necessary to go into detail here. Please see the 2 attachments which explain it all.  Any idea what can be done?

regards

Dirk

That admin would be me, and I'll see if I can delete you from the database so that you get registered new when you Connect after that.
That's going to be a few hours from now (I have to eat first ;) ). In the mean time you could create a new connection with a name no-one has user before, say "Frankenstein", just to see if you can get connected as a completely new user.

Dirk, I think I've nailed it.  ;D
All Dirks have been removed from the registered users list, so next time you try to connect, you are treated as a complete stranger  :P
This means you need to connect, then right-click on your user name in the left pane (the message pane in Mumble), and choose "register", or "self register" from the pop-up menu. From that moment on, you should be known, and some hidden certificate created on your computer to identify you.

Looks like you really nailed it E-J.   You deserve many, many karmas for this one, Sir.

Just a point of interest. You mention "then right click on your user name in the left pane (the message pane in Mumble) and choose "register" or "self register" from the pop-up menu".  It seems to have changed - on mine at least. The registration message on Mumble reads ""if you are not registered yet, please do so by right clicking on your name" . I did so and a panel came up with one of the options being "register". This was done and it seems I am now registered.   Could be that they have changed the procedure?
Just thought I would mention it for information.
I disconnected from the server, re-connected, again right-clicked on my name (to register) and the option was no longer available. So it seems it did work.

My sincere thank you, E-J.

Happy to be of assistance there, Dirk! Glad you got Mumble up and running too :)

It might be that I had it all mixed up in my head, about the left and right pane. I thought it was left, but as you describe it, sounds very familiar. So it probably was right-clicking on your name in the right pane all the time. The thing is that I did not do that myself in a long time, and it's a one-time thing, so I probably remembered wong. Doesn't matter, you're with us on the company channel; that's what matters!  ;D

Hi Eric-Jan just trying to connect to Mumble without certificate, could you please erase all of EHM-2589 David for your list server, in order to make a new installation. I lost my first certificate with my laptop too :'(

Thanks a lot.

I've been busy yesterday with a "Hoogvliegersdag" at my home airport EHLE. So I only saw your post today, David.
Mumble admin I have to do at home, and I won't be back until tomorrow after work. But I see you have found an intermediate solution already.

I will erase all "*David*" users soon, and request you re-create the EMH-####_David one all new again. I kinda find the EHM number easy to link the number I see on Web-eye, FC9, Plan-G, etc to the name when I talk on Mumble ;)

I'll post here to let you know I've done that, so you can re-create your ID on your own time, and not when you already want to be connected to Mumble.
