Event though i'm 15, i had a flying lesson a few months ago. The main difference is that the real world plane takes more concentration thank FS and weather has a greater effect over handling, apart form that, General Avaiation is pretty similar. but i have no experience in airliners, obviously!

A flightsim pilot would be able to take off and land if he had someone telling him everthing to do. If you tried by yourself your most likely going to crash. :(

There are some differences ..

Radio communication is much more intensive.

General procedures like dont passing 25 knots on the taxiways or getting 250 kn bellow FL100 is controlled.

We dont have the experience of manouvering the airplane, but sure we can give him all the navigation aid to find an airport.

There are some big differences:

in real life you must more work together with aileron and rudder as in FS, specially crosswind landing.
Also you don't feel the wind, air holes wind shares in front of your pc.
The movements in FS are faster: right left, pitch up , down, stall ! steep turns,...
Aircrafts procedure in FS is pretty good like setting trust for t/o or landing, flaps effects,..., but you don't have to push 20-40 buttons like in a real airplane ;o))

I have had maybe over 1000 hours in flying with the FS98- 2004 till I began may REAL PILOT education as a student. Of course my teacher was suprised to know a lot of staff and flying , but VFR is so much different in real life than in FS, also the power what you feel if you have strong wind.  A big difference is the landing than t/o , specially when you come close to the touchdown point and you have to start your flare, which is not close real in the FS like in real life.

Big Jets: The most of us have a normal panel view (or you flying the A310 from SAW?) and we know our "10" buttons which we have to push. But it is more than this in real life to land a big one , when the real pilots got sick ;o))
We don't know and use for example: APU Bleed, XFeed, Pack Valve, FCU,....,...in FS Believe me this warning sound in a big one, if you forget to press a button or the right one, makes you crazy and you can't press just off ;o))) But with a intro from the tower, yes it would be possible that the autopilot can land a B747, when we pressed the button ;o))

See you guys bye Mav  :>

Thanks for your answers guys.

Let me know if I am thinking anythink wrong... Let's make clear this, I can find my way to the airport, right? After finding a suitable airport,

If I am flying with Cessna then I can t/o and I can land but my insurance won't be happy with this landing... Because I haven't got any experince with handling a real aircraft. But I can even land to the airport in one piece.

When I am flying with a big jet I can t/o and I can land if a pilot can tell me all the procedures and the buttons that I have to use but in this time my insurance won't pay me anything because they won't want to repair they will sell the plane... :) Of course I am assuming that the weather is very well, almost no wind, etc.

I am very related with this topic because I want to be real pilot when I have got some money to take lessons. ;) I am wondering that if I will be able to pass exams and easily handle the plane? That way I can concantrate on FS till I have some money. What I understood with your messages is that I can learn so many things about aviation flying with FS and off course flying for EHM.

Billions of thanks... Safe landings...

lol, yeh Flight Simulator is good for learning a lot of stuff, im currently a pilot, but the good thing that i was lacking at the time was Hand to eye cordination which is how you control your eyes and your hands. If you want to improve FS is the one for you. When flying real life, you are always checking making sure evrything is going well. You are also feeling certain effects i.e G forces (well for me anyway). Another thing is that when i fly in such servers as IVAO and Vatsim i have seen that not all the ATC is the same as real life. You cannot compare real life flying to a game. No way! it wouldnt work. flight simulator is a simpler version of flying in real life.. i thought yeh they are really alike but know im sitting in my Tornado F3 thinking hmm.... ok ive got real ammunition on this and everything about it is different from flight simulator lol.

Anyway hope that helped you ;)

In that case, I assume your date of birth in your forum profile is incorrect? It states that you were born in December 1988, but if you fly the F3 you should be at least 17,5 years old.

????????
