Autothrottle?
« on: April 01, 2004, 04:32:36 pm »
Many of the EHM planes appear on the panel to have an autothrottle. They have an IAS setting that can be adjusted but then it is not possible to switch on the autothrottle and have this setting observed by the plane'sng wrong or do these planes flight computer. Am I doing something wrong or do these planes really not have autothrottle? The only plane in class three for example that seems to have a fully functioning autopilot is the Saab which seems slightly strange to me.

Any help or advice gratefully received.

I don't think props have autothrottle in reality, I'm sure the F50 doesn't but not about the rest.

Nope, props don't have A/T. I don't know if this is integrated in FS2002/4, though. I never use A/T in props.

Live and learn eh? Thanks for the information - somebody should tell the folks designing panels and then there wouldn't be the appearance of an autothrottle that doesn't exist.
Thanks again.

By the way, the Beech 1900 doesn't have an Autopilot at all in reality...
As for ATR-42/72 and Fokker 50, I think they have some kind of Thrust Rating Computer that can be set for takeoff/climb/cruise/descent power. Not sure though.

Sometimes you have to arm the autothrottle before you can use it.

If you want to "cheat" you can simply change the setting autothrottle_available=0 to autothrottle_available=1 in the [autopilot] section of the aircraft.cfg file for the aircraft. Also check out the autothrottle_arming_required setting in the same section.
