Chris,

I'm sure Ben has done all this already, but...

Are you running the logger on the same PC as you are running FS?

Do you start FS fully (plane sat at a gate) before you start the logger?

Do you have FSUIPC?

OK this is how I use it.

1st, install FSUIPC from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html - current version is 3.48. Just copy the FSUIPC.dll file to your FS modules folder. It won't work without it.

2nd, start the flight logger without FS running and choose your flight. Write down the details - depart/arrive ICAO codes, depart/arrive times, days, Class, Flight Number. When you have written this down, close the Logger.

3rd, start FS. Choose the plane, make the flight plan, set the time to 15-25 minutes before scheduled departure time (depending on size of airport and traffic etc.). Note that the times are in GMT, so use the right-hand clock, not the local time one. Fuel the plane, and, importantly, shut down the engines. Plus for added realism turn off all avionics, and everything else that you can see.

4th, when the engines are shut down, start the logger. On the timetable page, select the flight and the plane you will be using, and then click log, and then minimise it.

5th, start the engines, you will get a message on the screen that the log has started.

6th, do the flight. When you take off a message will say that you are airborne. When you land, a message will say that you have landed.

7th, shut down the engines. A message confirms this. You will also here a sound. Minimize FS now (or close it).

8th, check the details on the log page. It will automatically do fuel, flight times, cruise altitude, cruise speed, destination, and aircraft. You will have to manually fill in the type of approach, the number of passengers (default is the maximum), whether you flew online of offline, and any comments.

9th, check the cruise altitude, it's usually right, but check anyway. The others should be correct (at least I've never had a problem).

10th, save the ACARS and PIREP. Not necessary, but I do it for the record.

11th, click Submit PIREP. A window will appear. Check it again if you want, or just scroll down and click submit PIREP to EuroHarmony.

12th, the window will change to showing your updated flight hours and promotions. Review it and cthen close it.

13th, close the logger.

All done. That made it sound a lot harder than it is. Feel free to print this if you want.

Note that all the time, your plane's position will be shown on the map under Pilots>ACARS, as is everyone else using the flight logger.

Happy to help (hopefully), and sorry for writing an essay.;)
