A tad confused (but then I\'m getting on)
« on: July 15, 2005, 03:03:44 pm »
Just a little confusion (on my part I expect) that I would like to sort out.

European Countries - I have either landed in or taken off from 25 different European countries (by current EU standards) but only have the award for 10. By my reckoning there are only 40 European countries that can be visited counting Greenland (unless you know of more).

It was lasty Sunday that I went to the 20th and I understood the software ran every day to update.

Cheers

Well - I got that problem too - the Dep and Dest are in fact totalled up separately and *both* most be above 20. This is not what is mentioned on the award page.

Bruno said he would change the script but I dont know if this has been completed/implemented yet.

If it has then it is not working because both of us should have European Silver Awards. ;)

Just wondering if this issue has been resolved as I did have the silver award but it's now gone down to a blue...:[

Bruno - could you let us know whether the requirements have changed? Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Basically the idea for the European Award is to land or arrive in 10 (blue), 20 (silver) or 40 (cobalt) distinct european countries.

Although Iain said on some last posts that they must be totally separated, they must not. For example, imagine that I departure from Portugal and Landed in Spain : It counts 2. Then I make another flight departing from Portugal (again) and landed in France : That counts 3 in total. and so on ...

Currently the script is changed to that logic. That is, i count the distinct departure airports, and then count the distinct destination airports not included on the first ones.

Current ICAO codes for european countries start with:

'EB', 'ED', 'EE', 'EF', 'EG', 'EH', 'EI', 'EK', 'EL', 'EN', 'EP', 'ES', 'ET', 'EV', 'EY', 'LA', 'LB', 'LC', 'LD', 'LE', 'LF', 'LG', 'LH', 'LI', 'LJ', 'LK', 'LL', 'LM', 'LO', 'LP', 'LQ', 'LR', 'LS', 'LT', 'LU', 'LV', 'LW', 'LY', 'LZ', 'BG', 'BI', 'UI', 'UK', 'UL', 'UM', 'UR', 'UU', and 'UW'

Hope that helps .. If you noticed something wrong, please tell me.

Regards,

There's one missing from that list 'UI'.

Could do with clarification on 'UI', 'UL, 'UM', 'UR' 'UU' which are all in the timetable as Russia. Do they count as 1 or 5.

Bill,

If memory serves, all the Russian ICAO's count as a single country for the purposes of the awards, same as the two German ICAO's (ED and ET) count as a single country.

NOTE: Bruno, fixed your list as per Bill's remark, and added spacing so it wraps properly. Hope you don't mid.

Murray - I think you mean ED not EG as one of the German prefixes.
