When read this first thing this morning I almost replied "DUH!" and left it at that (thankfully, I was too sleep hungover to be bothered ;D )

For much the same reasons the World Tours disappeared; they weren't overly "popular" (read "not flown all that much" )

As such were removed , and we got additional themed tours instead.

I think the themed tours are great - they are really accessible because they are relatively short flights and the tour is over quite quickly.
I guess the reason European tours and World tours were flown less regularly were because they involved quite an investment of time that not everybody was able to give.
I know when I have finished the current run of tours - no doubt a year or two down the line - I'll have a 'what next?' feeling.
I was certainly an advocate of letting folks refly tours and claim hours if not the awards themselves the second time. I guess I also would be for the introduction of a couple of seriously time intensive tours that folks fly over months instead of weeks.

And don't forget, we don't want people just flying tours, there is a timetable you know.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't fly tours, but before the big crash it got to the point where something like 8 out of every 10 flights flown were tour flights.

not popular enough ... that a pitty ... cuz i sure as hell did fly both the world and the european tours....

I'm currently flying the capitals of europe tour..that's a great one 2....

But the other tours... I don't really know yet ... they are all with those VFA aircraft...I think we should be able to choose the aircraft ourselves.... I don't know, I don't really like small planes and TP's.... but that's just me .. I'm more of a JE aircraft....  note that the COE tour is the only one that can be flown with non VFA planes

Which is the reason I [personally] have decided (initially, at least) to fly all the timetabled flights into and out of my hub (EGLL) before I do any tours. I'll do the UK tour once I've completed class 1 & 2 (I'm already an FC and I have more than half of the class two to fly!), then I'll fly at least the entirety of class 3 before I think of doing any of the other tours.

same here.. I'm EHAM...   EHAM has a total of 223 Flight leaving from there....

Euroharmony in total has a 3914 flights database... I hope I'll eve achieve that number, and the honor of flying them all.....

and that number in not including the Tours

I guess the thing is - EHM is a vast and interesting company to fly for. If you want VFA tours - they are there - if you want timetables jet flights - well, they're there too.

Reference the comment that COE is the only tour that isn't VFA aircraft - note that those who enjoy the VFA aircraft can only get their thrills by flying tours as no timetabled routes allow VFA aircraft. Also, once they have been flown there are no flights left for VFA aircraft whereas with timetabled flights you can fly them again and again.

Phil,

How can you say that? I can only assume it's because you've never heard of the IVAO VFR World Tour? 120+ legs (pretty much all of 1hour+ flying time) that do indeed span the globe, and you are expected to complete it in a plane capable of cruise at no more than (160kts IAS if memory serves...)

:)

O'course, you'd not be able to submit them as EuroHarmony hours, but you'd have a great deal of satisfaction :)

/me is waiting patiently for the 2004 IVAO VFR WT route to be released...
