If you are looking for an air band (aviation) scanner, go for the Uniden Bearcat UBC180XLT. It's very affordable and quite easy to use too. The quality deceases more when you move away from the radio station (in my case at the moment that radio station is Schiphol Tower @ 118.100 MHz, about 20km from where I live), which is obvious, but to think my previous scanner, a Sony from 1987 :o had a better sound quality at my home than the Bearcat. I'm sure it's the antenna, though. New antenna's for greater range are no more than 30€ these days so I might get one soon enough.

Anyway, the Bearcat's an excellent choice if you want to hear some ATC while spotting! It's only €159,- over here, not sure how much it is outside Europe (or even the Neths). Oh by the way, if the seller asks you if you want the UBC280XLT instead, decline his offer. The 280XLT is identical to the 180XLT, only the 280 has more memory to store frequencies.. and it's like 20€ more expensive. Don't get it, you won't even need to store more than 100 aviation freqs:P
