PSS Airbus probs
« on: October 01, 2005, 02:22:56 pm »
Okey Dokey Folks,

Can anyone help me out. After what seems like an age trying to get to grips with the PSS Airbus range, I am still having difficulty with ILS approaches.

I tune to the localizer frequency, Press the ILS Button on the FDU, When approaching the localizer press the LOC button on the FDU and enable AP2 again on the FDU? As far as I can tell my MCDU is programmed correctly and have activated the Approach Phase? Does anybody have any ideas? I have tried following the tutorial flights from PSS and I have the same problems. The Localizer does not even activate in the PFD.

Thanks for your help,
Phil

By the way, I am using the A330-300RR although I have the same difficulty with Airbus Pro A320.

Cheers,

Hi Phil,

Program your MCDU to the runway of your choise, when you're in app. press the clear button ("clr" I tought) and then LSK1L for VOR 1 freq.
This will turn small and after a while it will disapear and read "ils" now run the same procedure as you did and you'll see it's working.

Hi Phil
With the Airbus you have to programme the FMC with the ILS freq and Course. What you do is when you know the runway you are going to land on, and the ILS frequency, bring up the FMC and select the NAV/RAD button, then you enter the ILS freq in LSK 3 and RSK 1, then you enter the runway course into both LSK 4 and RSK 2. You are then set up for an autoland or a hand flown ILS approach with your normal selections of LOC or APP.

Hi Bruce/Niels

Thanks for your replies, I have programmed the ILS Freqs in to the NAV/RAD page and still no joy, although it will not let me tune the ADF frequency on this page?????

I will try the CLR button on the the APP page later as I am flying the Cargo Bus to JFK at the moment. (With a 75 kn headwind just to make it longer!)

Thanks for your help, will let you know how I get on.

Cheers,

Phil

Phil,

I'ts not the app page, but stage. Clear your VOR1 freq. in the rad/nav page.

OMG! I finally got the ILS & LOC working on my PSS Airbus. After all that, it wasn't me, and I really thought I was going completely mad!

It was all down to this "Dead Battery" problem with the PSS Airbus when starting from cold and dark! Now I have to start up with the default 737-400, then change to the Airbus A320 or A330 for the planning and start up!

Thanks for all your help guys,
