Hi Javier!

I think the best way to find out it so select one of the big hubs like Schiphol or Heathrow and  just roll around along the gates.
At these airports you can always find our big ones.

here is a quote out of the readme file that may help if you use FS2004

Simply copy the attached FS2004\Traffic_EHM-PAI.bgl

file into your

FS9-install\Scenery\World\Scenery

folder

Hi folks,

here is a quote from the README:

Many default airports do not have enough free gates. If there is not enough free gates, the game will decrease the amount of available AI aircraft appereance. To increase the amount of free gates, you need to install AFCAD files. These are single files for every airports, and you can download them from many freeware sites, like AVSIM.COM. For installing AFCAD files in FS2002, you need to have AFCAD from Lee Swordy, which will compile the TXT source file into game BGLs. For FS2004, the AFCAD(2) files are already available as BGLs, so you need to simply copy them into your FS9-install\Addon Scenery\Scenery folder. You can later alter any airports with AFCAD, change the takeoff/landing runway configuration, open or close runways, add navigation radios...
etc. Please note, that more AI appereance and higher amount of free gates will highly increase your AI traffic, and highly lower your frame rate. You need to find the optimum level by yourself, to meet it with your computer capabilites.

AFCAD BGL's are freely available at sites such as avsim or flightsim.com. Most of these files come with comprehensive instructions on how to install them inside the RAR or ZIP archives. Here is a link to site that has many resources for Flight Simulator and will help you get started.

Hi,

ok lets see a word-by-word implementation. First of all BGL is a fileformat. If you browse through your FS2004 installation, you can see many BGL files, these contain mostly the 3D models of the FS virtual world.

Now, you need more free gates airport, because you want to see more AI aircrafts coming and going to airports.

So, go to avsim.com, register freely, and go to the file library. There, enter the airports ICAO code, like EGLL for Heathrow, and select "FS2004 AFCAD file" as type of request. After this you can see some available downloads if you are lucky. In the description the author will write if this AFCAD file is for the default airport, or for a freeware scenery, or for a payware scenery. Select the appropriate one that yo uneed, and download it.

Now you have the file. It is zipped. Unzip it and you will find the .BGL file inside, and maybe a readme. The readme file describes the same what I am writing here. Now move/copy the .BGL file to your "drive:\..\FS2004 insttallation\Addon Scenery\Scenery folder". Now you are ready. Now, you say, "installed" more free gates to EGLL in the example. This means, you will see more AI planes, and you have also wider variety to park your plane at the airport.

If you install a new .BGL file for an airport, the game will register it, and will not load the factory default airport layout anymore. If you remove the .BGL file, it will load again the default version, there is no data lost.

If you want to edit the installed file, say you do not like the runway preference that is programmed, you can edit it with AFCAD. This is a program by Lee Swordy, and because it can generate thos superb .BGL files for each airport, the .BGL files we are talking about called AFCAD files.

What is the situation in FS2002 ? It is a bit more complicated. Because in the first version of AFCAD, it required TXT, readable input files, and it could compile them to .BGL It was still more difficult, because the generated BGL overwrote the factory default version, so you need to be careful.

Phuhh, I hope it is clear now ;)

Nothing. If it is there, the game will find it, and will load it automatically. The airplanes will appear only if there are more free gates. The game have some rules how to show the heavy amount of aircrafts with only few gates, that is why the planes do not show up. If you installed more free gates with a new .BGL file, the airplanes will be there. Enjoy the EHM-AI fleet.

Inside the installation there are many scenery.cfg files. Those are required the game to keep an eye of all the scenery files (.BGL or textures). Every startup the game sparse the directories and matches it with scenery.cfg-s. If it finds a new file, or a missing file, it will register it. That is the moment when the "Building Database for new scenery files..." slider appears at startup. So, you can be sure ;)
