Ferry if you are following GPS navigation you have to change the switch from "GPS" to "NAV" when starting approach vectoring for the localizer.

And to reiterate things that have been said before on the subject of the MSFS AP, you need to be intercepting the glideslope from below, at an intercept angle of 30 degrees (or less for preference) and as slow as you can manage. Oh, and make sure you have APPR mode engaged before intercept.

And you also need to tune your NAV1 radio to the corect ILS freq.

Hi,

Ok, but when i change from gps to nav the nav-screen will be change with 180 degree (so, left to right) and the plane is searching then.
And the freqeuncy must be turn in to the active runway??

Ferry,

(edited given your most recent post immediately below)

  • As you approach the FAF, set your NAV1/NAV2 freq to the ILS freq.
  • Switch from GPS to NAV.
  • Dial the rwy heading as course.
  • As you intercept the ILS/glideslope, switch on APPR.

Hope that helps.. :)

Ferry,

If you're not sure how to do an ILS approach and you're not sure what all the terms mean above, then I'd suggest you try the flying lessons section of FS9, see under Instrument Rating, lesson 2. Read the ground school information then fly the lesson and you'll be guided through the whole process a step at a time...

Good luck !

Hi,

Ok, the first attempt was a great succes, intercepted the localizer/glidescope a had a very smooth landing at eham runway 1R(no sick passengers)
I have only one more question:] and that is when you fly in to the needle from youre localizer,it suddenly move very fast when i fly with the gps mode it moves slowly and you have time before you enter the APP-button,is this a normal situation??and when is the best time to activate the APP-button?.

Thanx to all for helping me with this one (great):P

Best regards,

Ferry ( a very happy pilot )

Moving 'fast' or 'slow' depends how far are you from the touchdown point.

Always try to intercept the localizer in a 20-30 degree angle, and below the glideslope. For example if the course is 010, make your heading 340 (if you're coming from the left) or 040 (from the right) and press APP button once the localizer is alive.

In FS, you can activate 'Visual Flight Path' (it's under the Aircraft menu). This will show the path in 3D so you will understand it better.

You can also check the FS Flying Lessons (Instrument Pilot, Lesson 2).
