Flight Simulator X repaints

OK ... so the preview images are arriving and flight simulator x looks the business. We know the aircraft we currently fly in flight sim 2004 are likely to still work in flight simulator x but ... is it going to be possible to repaint ehm aircraft with the kind of detail and finish that the preview images show? Having never repainted I don't know what's involved - maybe Robert can help out with this one. Will we ever get to a point where the installation of additional aircraft really is only viable for large software houses?

Well, I think if FSX keeps the compatibility to our current models, it means the painting technology does not change at all, or too much. The new DirectX features some helpful things, like dynamic shadows, and better dynamic shine, better reflections. I have red that some painters are already afraid, that graphic engines will be so good, that many current painting technic will be unnecessary, and the painting itself will became a boring process to do in the future.

So the answer is yes. I believe we can still be able to paint our own fleet in FSX ;)

Hey,

So, will there be an actual repaint of the EuroHarmony fleet, specifically designed for FSX? FSX is still in development and I have read that it is still a year away from public release.

Microsft has stated that FSX will be comaptible with previous versions of FS, but taken into acount that the FSX will be an 64bit application like windows vista, the new graphics engine will not perform as at it's best unless you got a fully 64bit compatible system with an 64bit operating system and CPU

Well,

I have a vision, that after FSX released we can still use some/many of our current aircrafts there, maybe with some modification. And later (as always in the history) brand new freeware/payware aircraft will be born, and then we can replace them with the older models. But that is nothing new, it was always the same process in the FS history, as we upgraded to a newer game version. ;)
