Iain,

As the only person that has admitted finishing all the flight training checkrides, I'd like your assistance. On the IR checkride, what the hell does she want me to do when entering the holding pattern in section 2???

I've tried approaching on the 160 radial, on the 140 radial, turning  prior to the SEA VOR, turning after the SEA VOR, and still she fails me for "failed to enter the holding pattern correctly"...

I think the "IFR checkride" note has answered all my questions regarding the hold...

There is a BIG BIG bug in the checkride. She starts a timer expecting you to arrive in the hold within 5 mins of setting the OBS to the inbound course. However, she expects you to set the OBS before she tells you to, starts the timer early, and then ther isn't enough time to get into the hold.

Just set the OBS to somewhere inbound somewhere near PARKK if I remember correctly...

Haven't passed it yet, she is now pulling me up for the entry to the hold, but I think that's because I've been setting the NAV1 OBS to 320 rather than 140. Will be giving that a go tonight after work.

Set the OBS to the inbound course - i.e. if you're holding on the 320 radial set OBS NAV1 to the inbound course of 140. Teardrop or parallel entry, in isn't checked - as long as you get on the course within X minutes, maintain speed XXX and altitude XXXX, then you can carry on. And the rest is easy.

When I did the checkride, She just abandoned me. I did the Correct approach, the correst altitude, the correst heading, and I landed properly, and she failed me. She didn't speak to me since when she told me what I was supposed to do to when I landed!
