I was winging my way across here after reading this on AVSIM to tell you all about it but Conrad beat me to the line!!!! :P

This is absolutely fantastic news and will, I am sure, give MS a very firm sales boost for FSX when it ships. I for one will be advance ordering FSX, and all PMDG products as soon as I can. I for one don't mind paying for a product as good as these!

I think the countdown really has begun, if PMDG are announcing this now, they must have access to a Beta version or an SDK to make these products available as soon as FSX ships.

IMHO - FS2004 is dead! Long live FSX!!!!

Well, FSX will be Windows XP compatible at first so I think you may be okay. If you get a good Frame Rate now with FS2004, you will probably get an acceptable one with FSX. Of course if your runnning a laptop with no upgrade path, your a bit stuck!

I guess the advantage of upgrading will be minimal if you continue to run it on a 32bit Windows XP system. It is designed to showcase Vista and a 64bit Vista system will be a must for those who want to really see a reason for upgrading.

Phil, this is a common missconception apparently, it has actually been "designed" for XP but a 64 bit Vista patch will probably be released later which will take advantage of this OS.

*EDIT Sorry was at work earlier so didn't have all my resources to hand, here are a couple of links regarding FSX that might interest those who are as eager and impatient as me!!!!

First is the main FSX Developer blog. (There are links to other blogs with lots of interesting information from this page)
http://blogs.technet.com/p-12c_pilot/default.aspx

Second is an interview with the head of the developers:

Oh I can't wait for Vista, my new computer I probaly will need a new one for FSX :] and of course for the PMDG A320. Up to now there exists no realy good Airbus for FS. Of cours there are the PSS buses but the don't have the quality of a NG for example. But i think PMDG will change this.

The whole vista upgrade should be well worth while. I think by the end of the year entry level vista systems may well include 2 SLI cards and be seriously suitable for FSX. 2 SATA hard drives may well also be a standard or at least easily affordable option too. Oh the Joy!
