Hi,

I'm currently having a small debate with myself; I might be purchasing a payware aircraft from Pheonix Simulations, either the 757 or the 777.

I would really love to get both the 757 or the 777 (they both have their advantages and disadvantages, like the 777 being able to fly Class 7 flights but I'm more familiar with the 757), but there isn't a EuroHarmony texture available for the 757 plane. There is, however, a texture download for the 777. If I got the 757, would I be able to get the texture for it, or not? If not, I'll probably be swayed to get the 777.

Thanks!

Ben,

The PSS 757 hasn't been released yet!! So I'd say the 777 would be more enjoyable to fly.. ;)

The 777 is a great aircraft and certainly seems to be used by quite a few pilots here so I'd go for that if I were you (and yes, I have the 777 and enjoy it immensely!)

Of course the fleet is likely to be updated with new textures soon (check the forum if you haven't seen the threads on this topic) so who knows what payware aircraft may be included...??!

Sorry Ben, the PSS 757 is not out yet. (Although in Beta phase) Also, I would seriously consider waiting until after it has been out a few weeks to see how it works if you are thinking of getting it.

I have the PSS 777 and it could have been a great plane. Some people, me included, had no end of problems with this aircraft though, although it is fair to say that most did not have any problems at all. (But I think everybody will agree it had terrible flight dynamics for the first 6 months!) Put it this way, it took them well over 6 months to work a patch and it still has bugs being reported even now so buy at your own risk from PSS as far as I am concerned.

Level D Simulation are also working on a 757 and I am sure it will be far superior to the PSS model, just like the Level D 767 is far superior to the PSS 777. You may want to wait and see which fares best as you can bet the release dates will be pretty close.

(EDIT* Sorry Dom, took so long to write this novel, you had already answered :P)

No worries Phil !!

And I agree that the Level-D 767 is a superb aircraft with a very thorough simulation of many more systems than the PSS 777... I guess I feel more of a link to the 777 because a mate of mine flies them for BA and I've flown on them but you're quite right about the quality of the Level-D product...:P

And Ben, if you haven't already considered the Level-D 767 as a happy compromise between 757 and 777 ( ;D ) I think you should. It's already had any bugs ironed out and is very well supported... And the panel is almost identical to the 757 which you are already familiar with !!

So, would it be fair to say that the 777 would be better to go with? From what you tell me, the PSS 777 doesn't sound like a very good deal but I don't think I want the Level-D 767 (although I've seen throughout the forums and in screenshots that it appears to be quite a popular aircraft!).

Good idea, Phil. I think I'll wait until the PSS 757 is out, maybe read some reviews, see what people think about it. But from what you tell me, it seems like Level-D is a better 'maker' than PSS, in terms of both support and the general product itself. So I'll look at Level-D for a while, and see what happens. Do you know when the 757 is due to be realeased?

In the end I suppose I'll wait until the new payware aircraft textures for EuroHarmony have been released and then make a decision from there. Thanks for your quick responses and help! ;)

Pretty much given up on getting the planes right now, they're so EXPENSIVE! Especially since the GBP (British Pound) is at a 1:3 ratio with the New Zealand Dollar. Just can't afford $90 for an airplane, sorry guys!!

I have seen a CaptainSim 757 ! Is it the PSS one or a different ? It is "completely" released, but they have a very strange strategy! Complete means it does not have a 2D panel, but the 3D model, virtual cockpit and cabins are fine too. I red they are planning to release it in steps, and each step will give another small part of the really COMPLETE product, and you can decide which level of details are you intersted in it. What I do not understand, is a 2D panel is a must have, and should not be optional !

Anyway the plane looks fantasticf, and flies well. I love the 757-200 model and I am very happy to hear more teams are working on it :)

Back to the original topic: payware planes have, and will have EHM textures. Of course, not all have, and maybe there will be missing models in the future too. Just as in the freeware market, there will be 1 selected from each model as best, and those products will be supported with EHM textures. Fortunately until this time there is not much copy from 1 model from different modelers to worry about.

Of course, we support only those payware models, that are available in the current fleet.

AMD X4-955 3.2GHz / Gigabyte 770T / 4 GB DDR / Gigabyte GTS450 1GB DDR
Samsung 226BW@1680x1050 / WinXP.3 / FS9.1 / FSX.1 / Saitek Cyborg 3DGold

But I still need to convert NZ dollars to the US dollars to pay, so in the end it's still the same.
