Hi Steve !

The CPU info is not enough. What video card do you use, how much RAM you have, and how much gates did you installed for the airports...or do you have default scenery there ?

Also is the framerate means from cockpit, from Virtual Cockpit, or from outside view ?

Steve,

Are you still using two monitors? This will probably have some impact although I have never tried it.

Also If you go in to the Display settings on FS2004, Go to the scenery tab and set the global scenery to "Minimal" then go to the aircraft tab and set the global aircraft quality to minimal and do the same for the weather. Then go to the Hardware Tab and make sure you Hardware is identified correctly turn off Render to texture, Transform and lighting, Anti Aliasing and Filtering. If this improves your frame rates start turning up the settings one by one till you get an acceptable level of performance and quality of graphics.

Hope this helps,

Weather and traffic are biggies on frame rates often, as is use of the GPS.

You can see my specs in the sig, and I have about 20-30fps generally, 10fps at EHAM and EGLL when it is full of traffic (100+ airplanes)...and I use 1280x1024 screen, maximum quality in all settings, with a 3 year old video card. ;) Maybe you should try to update your video driver and DirectX.

Isn't that a little on the low powered side these days?(no expert)for a programme that uses a lot of CPU horsepower.
Ive often wondered why Heathrow is so bad for frame rates( Schipol i find not quite as bad)One explanation Ive heard is that in the south east of the UK there are lots of busy airports IE Gatwick,Luton,Stanstead etc and consequently lots of AI buzzing about equalling lower frame rates.
cheers Andy
