« on: June 18, 2006, 11:58:46 am »
Hi folks !

Can some Dutch member translate it to me to English please ?

Ik was er ook naar op zoek en kwam dit recept tegen, ik hou ook van lekkere dingetjes te maken. Ik zou zeggen probeer het eens

Deeg:25 g gist
100 g melk
1 ei
200g zuurroom
0,5 kg meel
0,5 ei om op te smeren helft product
Voor invulling:300g rundvlees
100g kool
100g uien
zout, peper

Maak een deeg van deeg producten.Rundvlees, kool, uien in heel klein stukjes snijden.Deeg plaat rollen een 15cm rondjes maken(met behulp van klein boordje gaat het heel snel).Doe invulling (zoiets 1 eetlepel )binnen rondje ,vouw door de midden en knijp kanten vast.Smeer met geklopte ei kibinai en zet in verwarmde 200 c oven.Ik denk zoiets 20 min om te bakken moet genoeg zijn.
Gero apetito

Thank you in advance ;)

I tried my best, but there was something about a wet nurse which I could not translate. This is not accurate, as I am terrible at Dutch, but I gave it my best shot. This is what I translated:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found this recipe, which I think is delicious. I would say try it once.

Dough: 25 g at a guess
100 g milk to lubricate
salt
1 egg
200g sour cream
0.5 kg flour
0.5 egg on half product For invulling:300g beef
100g cabbage
100g onions,
pepper

Make a dough with ingrediants. Cut the Beef, cabbage, onions in small pieces. Using a 15cm wide plate, cut the dough around the plate. put the filling on the dough? and then fold in half, then press the edges down. Grease with egg yoke and put in a pre-heated 200 c oven. Bake 20 of them.  Bon apetetit!

Thanks Matt ! I appreciate your efforts very much ;) Now I am going to translate it to Hungarian to my Mom, to make that dish...if it will turn out fine, you are good in Dutch ;)

That is a recepie of a tradiconal Lithuanian dish, the Kybyn. It is a kind of baked pasta filled with meat. I seen it on Discovery, in the Unesco short films, and I thought I would like to taste it ;D

I think I've been made that in Croatia.

It was like a parcell dough with mince inside.

I hope you don't make this via my translation, and then it turns out as a greek salad.

Good try Matt, but translators do not put the text in the right context..!!

Robert, if you try to make it the way Matt posted you'll be puke-ing in no time :o

My dutch is perfect as I lived in holland 10 years... but I'm kinda busy now, so check back in a couple of hours and I'll have the right translation for you

I actually didn't use translators there, I made an exception, as I use them if it's any other language except French, German and Croatian, and thanks for the great remarks!:@

Nah, I'm glad you pointed that out actually, but I thought it seemed pretty logical the way I put it. Meat inside dough!

I was looking for it too and found this recipe, as I also love to make delicious things. I'd say "Go ahead and try it out".

Dough:
25g baking powder
1 egg
200g sourcream
0,5 kg flour
half a egg to lubricate the finished product with (stirred)

For the filling:
300g of beef
100g of cabbage
100g of onions
salt & pepper

Make a dough with the dough ingredients.
Cut up the beef, cabbage and onions in very small pieces.
Roll the dough flat, and cut out circles with a diameter of approx. 15cm (using a small plate might come in handy, and makes the process much easier)
Place the filling (approx. 1 medium sized spoon) in the middle of the pre-cut circle, fold the dought in middle, and then compress the sides and close it. So basicly your making "dough half moons' with the filling inside.
Lubricate with the stirred egg 'kibinai' and place in pre-heated 200c Oven.
I think that about 20 mins. of baking time should be enough.

Gero Apetito

There you go Robert.

I've taken the liberty to add some more structural grammar to the original text, in order to make it more comprehensive.

As for the word 'kibinai' :% ... I have no clue what that is or means, hence the quotes. It's not a dutch word. Maybe some kind of ingredient? So good luck with that part. ;D

As for the rest. Lightning strike me in the head if it does not turn out what it should be with my translation :]

After a quick inquiry, kibinai/kibiny/kibin seems to be the name of that whole recipe (seems to be from Lithuania / Crimea).

Maabaa got the point ;) Thanks Rico anyway, maybe this weekend I try to force my mom to make it ;D

I think Kybyn means something like pillow, because the girl on Discovery said they call it because it looks like as is. So the name is Kybyn because it looks like Kybyn. Very logical ;)

One must hope that this statement don't get back to Roberts mom. :o  But I must agree with you Robert. Most of all the big wellknown cooks in the world are men.

Well,

it turned out fine ! My mom did not trust in the recepie, so I had to do it mysef ;D I did not get fine beef in the shop, therefore I bought pork instead. And added some "red hot chilli" hungarian paprika to the filling, making it a real multi-national dish.

I can only advise you too, to try it. I think it is the best snack for a big bottle of beer when you sitting in front of the TV and watching football finals. ;D Thank you again guys ;)

Hey hey ! Mistake in translation ;D The dough was so "dry" I could not knead it, so I added more sourcream to it.

But you said I need baking powder, and not 1dl milk + yeast ;D Next time I will try it with yeast instead of baking powder.
