FS crash.....
« on: June 19, 2006, 10:58:26 pm »
Every time I make a flight to Greece, when I insert the Greek airspace I get an FS crash!

It is very annoying, since I usually make long hour flights and the last 30 mins screw my flight!:@

Any advice?

Themis,

Do you have add-on sceneries or AFCAD files for Greece? I know there was an issue with some add-on sceneries that caused crashes in this part of the world... I have Hellas Scenery Project (HSP) Greece and I think this suffered from these problems when first released.

If so, check the readme file of this scenery for the designers website and check it for updates or patches. Or, if you can remember where you downloaded it (avsim?), check there for more recent versions.

If not, crashes can be caused by faulty AFCAD files (the airport facility files that start "AF2_" then the airport's ICAO code) and the only fix for this generally is a different version.

Or failing that, any add-on landclass files (the ones that determine whether the land looks like fields or a city as you fly over it...) - if you have these check the landclass folder to see if there is a texture folder as well as a scenery folder... Landclass sceneries must not have a texture folder as this causes memory conflicts and crashes.

I hope this helps you, if you aren't sure what I mean or this doesn't work then post again and I'll try something else...

Good luck!

Had this problem too with HSP. Taking off LGAV no problem, but at some point toward europe my FS would crash. I think it may have been a mesh zone that was bugged. Never found for sure. Try to uninstall all HSP scenery, and make tests with only one item installed at a time, so you can figure out which one is faulty.

Have you installed the FS9 patch?amongst other things it was meant to sort out certain crash problems.I used to have a similar problem flying into Frankfurt from Heathrow at exactly the same point in the flight (nearing Frankfurt)it would crash. It turned out after a long tinkering session i had forgotten to re-install the fs9 patch so i did and the crash problem disappeared
