How to know the cruise speed?

In the EHM Operation manual, it says "Press CTRL+Z to know the cruise speed".

When I press CTRL+Z nothing happens. Hence I'm unable to know my cruise speed.

Hi Sameer,

Hmmm... at me, for first press it shows coordinate and speed, for second press it shows FPS and for third press it shows both in two rows.

Why is it different? :s

AMD X4-955 3.2GHz / Gigabyte 770T / 4 GB DDR / Gigabyte GTS450 1GB DDR
Samsung 226BW@1680x1050 / WinXP.3 / FS9.1 / FSX.1 / Saitek Cyborg 3DGold

Why don't you just tune in the nearest VOR with ADF and checkout you cruse speed. Does it for me and it is very realistic.

shift-z gives you the -true- airspeed (TAS),
while your panel is likely set to show
you the -indicated- airspeed (IAS).

Ciao ciao!

Indeed, the ground speed is on the GPS.

Shift+Z and panel will display the IAS or the GS, depending on the setting in Realism settings (Show True Airspeed, Show Indicated Airspeed).

For more info about IAS/TAS check the VFA FAQ.

Also don't forget to start the Pitot Heat; if you don't, you'll get erroneus speed readouts.

Oooops. My mistake then.
I was totally convinced the setting would
affact only the speed on the panel, but
not the one with shift-z.

Sorry about that.  :[

That is because you have a head wind of 50kts. The speed show by the ADF is actual ground speed, the speed show by the aircraft is Indicated Air Speed (IAS). For instance, if you have an IAS of 100kts with a head wind of 20kts, your actual ground speed is 80kts. Hope that sorts things out for you.
