The ATR-42 - freeware at its best !
« on: August 04, 2006, 08:25:51 pm »
After working your way up the ranks, it's easy to forget how much fun flying the low and slow props is... So I've been revisiting a few of them and wanted to share a short flight I took in our lovely ATR-42...

This plane won't be in the fleet much longer [I'm not complaining as I can't wait to use her bigger sister, the Flight1 ATR-72 ;) ] so if you haven't flown her, have a look through these shots and I dare you to say she's not a great little plane !!!

Here she is on the ground, engines starting...

...after take-off checklist please...

... following the standard instrument departure...

...must be time for the inflight meal...

...while here on the flightdeck (a genuinely excellent freeware VC !) the autopilot is in command...

...that was quick ! Top of descent already, better watch those Corsican mountains...

...turning onto base leg...

...and all set up on final...

...last 1000 feet, about to go manual for landing...

...better not taxi to the wrong slot or I'll probably get shot !!

A great flight in a lovely little aircraft ;) Hope you enjoyed the ride...

P.S. I'm not telling you where the flight started... you've got to guess !! :P

Glad you like the pics guys :)

The arrival airport is shared with the military (not that many choices in Corsica ;D ) but the departure airport isn't...

I'll make it easy for you - we flew to Solenzara, Corsica and it was a class 2 flight, not that many options for that on the timetable ;) See if you can match the coastal position of the airport to a map !

Hi, nice pics.:o
I was wondering where did you get those ground, taxiway and runway textures. Could you tell me, please?;)

Jose,

I've got so many extra sceneries and downloads it's hard to know which one is responsible for what !!! ;D

But I think the textures you mention are most likely the result of AEU7 - Airport Environment Upgrade 7 - by Chris Arrington, available on Avsim. Well worth installing...
