FSUIPC and WideFS

Hello guys!

I have installed the FSUIPC and it seems that it also brings something called WideFS. I don´t know what is this used for. I know FSUIPC allows you to set special parameters with the weather (and EHM Flight Logger too! of course). But I don´t know what does the WideFS to Flight Simulator 2004. Can anyone explain me, please?

PS: I´ve got the codes and the programs are installed and working, but I don´t see any difference. Is there anything I have to do?

If we're talking about paid for FSUIPC and WideFS, you should find a lot more tabs available to you if you go into Modules\FSUIPC (plus a registration details panel on the General tab of FSUIPC)

WideFS permits you to connect additional software "into" FS across a network, by broadcasting FSUIPC in a client/server way. As an example, using WideFS I run the flight logger, Active Sky and FSRealTime on a separate PC from Flight Simulator, which gives a fair chunk of CPU time back to FS.

If you only have one PC available, ignore WideFS for now, it'll only confuse the heck out of you.

Right, thanks Murray. I´ve got the paid version and I see more tabs. My confusion was with WideFS, because now I see at the title bar of FS something like this: FS2004 etc... ...with Wide server waiting for clients, and sometimes: ...with Wide server stopped!

I didn´t know what this exactly means, but if I need another PC in order to get benefit from wideFS... :s

You can put a stop to the WideFS server-side bits by removing WideServer.dll from your Modules folder (just move it somewhere else, don't go deleting it....) Once your simpit grows to the stage that you want/need additional PCs, move it back and read Peter's excellent documentation... :)
