Well - had a go - overall im not amazingly impressed, but that maybe because of my rubbish laptop.... Perhaps if somone could take some pics with a better machine. The best bit i liked about it was the ablility to change the approach type :P

It really does vary on your pc - this is what i found from someone else's pc:

Basicly i need a better pc.......

Like the new aircraft selection method. Doesn't look too bad Conners, even on your laptop (but then I don't know what it was running like, it might have been 5fps the whole time...)

Observations from your screenshots - weather has been "tweeked" again, looks a lot like ActiveSky graphics now...

Yeah, the weather is much better, it was running reasonably smoothly with - minimal - graphics LOL as soon as i put it up to max - it would run smoothly, but as soon as i saw a big dense area, then....oh god......the framerates dropped significantly.

However looking at the top photo (not mine)- if you've got the right system.......its good :)

Hi,

Well, doesn't look as good as I thought ...

As always, Microsoft only takes the best screenshots to show. The rest looks like the FS2004 ...

Ive got low frame rates, think i gotta upgrade my computer soon...

When i took of from ST.maarten, i was just amazed by the water effects!

Did anyone of you try out the "land at St.Maarten" mission? Strong X-winds+lousy joystick=crash

I touched down off the runway, set reverse thrust, turned a bit too much with the rudder and the plane flipped...:'((My first FSX crash;D)

Very nice shots ! Although I am more interested in the compatibility with our fleet, and not the so much eye-candy graphics...I liked FS2004 already on the graphics part.

AMD X4-955 3.2GHz / Gigabyte 770T / 4 GB DDR / Gigabyte GTS450 1GB DDR
Samsung 226BW@1680x1050 / WinXP.3 / FS9.1 / FSX.1 / Saitek Cyborg 3DGold

Priced around $50 for standard and $70 for deluxe. Will we be spending money on missions that soon loose there appeal.Apart  from that would we not be better upgrading our graphics cards if we require more eye candy.
 Update----
I have just downloaded and i must say i am not over impressed.
Sure the water textures are o.k. but the setup i have now with addon scenery and payware aircraft is far better than what is being offered out of the box with FSX.

Where are the 2D panels ?

As far as I can see for some reason Microsoft have chosen to offer you either a virtual cockpit or a normal panel.  Not the option of switching between both.  You need to choose which one you want in the settings.  Seems a bit weird to me!

I haven't downloaded the demo myself but I must say that if this is an accurate representation of what FSX offers I won't be rushing to buy it...

The ground scenery, water and weather don't look any better than you get with FS9 that's got a few scenery/texture addons and the Baron 2D panel looks identical to the FS9 version. Plus the pilot looks too small for his plane...:o

Just my opinion ;D but unless I see other screenies that show FSX is a real advance on FS9 after 3 years, I don't think the price tag is justified.

And why this return to the silly concept of standard and deluxe versions...:{

Very nice pics! :P

I also have made some pics. Don´t think I´ve got a special version of the demo because I´ve a Airbus A320. ;D I just have put the IFDG/PSS merge into the aircraft folder of my FSX demo and it works. It´s not to 100%, but more or less. AP works.

Here are my pics: :%

A thing I don't like at the FSX are the terrible flight dynamics. And do you need cars and ship at FL360?! No!
The new flight simulator is a step away from a real flight simulator and big step towards a game. I don't want to play a game. I want to fly an aircraft in a flight simulator. But I am shure uncle Bill is not of my opinion. He wants to sell as many FSX as possbile. But to reach this even a person, who has no idea about aviation, must be able to fly an aircraft in FSX. And I am very dissapointed about that.

Im not going to agree with your Views there Sven, ofcourse they have a clue what they are doing. Also must remember that it is a demo, not the full version yet. Alot of coding and bits will need to be optimized, i suggest to wait till the full release and then decide ;)
