My FSX preview...

If you haven’t got hold of the new FSX demo, or your system can’t take the bashing or didn’t even know one was out (available at www.fileplanet.com), I’ll try to give you a little insight about FSX from what’s in the demo.

Remember to keep in mind this is only a demo, and with much more options available in the final product.

The download weighs in at 600+mb, the installation is quick and easy. One small note, like the other flightsims when you install there’s a slideshow of screenshots from the game, one from the FSX demo shows both AI An-225 and the Airbus A380, good things to look forward to.

Loading up there is a simple loading screen, the start up screen is has been revamped and is looking rather nice…

The demo only has TNCM and the surrounding area available. I first set of for a simple flight in the mircolight that comes with the demo, if anyone was new to flightsim, they would fly the microlight, it’s very simple with very little in terms of instruments (what the developers wanted for new comers).

After loading up, I was pleased to see some new textures for the airport, to me they look better than in FS2004…

I was soon in the and as the next shot shows the taxiways…

One of the first things I noticed was how smoothly the aircraft flew, unlike FS2004 where the controls were hyper sensitive, they were smooth. Another thing that was smooth was the zoom; you now have better control of the zoom, more on the views later.

A new addition is the traffic, now it’s not just other aircraft in the skies, but you now gets cars and boats…

Close up on the apron…

The next plane I switched to was the Baron 58, if there was one thing I hated about this plane, it would have to be how sensitive it was, this seems to have changes, its now a lot smoother and better for flying, a lot more fun.

Showing the right-click options…

Visually, there’s not much updated either exterior or interior…

With the views you now have more flexibility and lots more viewing points, your views can now be a lot more creative and there is not great need for Walk and Follow or active camera.

More detailed cockpits…

Vapor trails…

Won’t blabber on anymore, but here are some more screenshots…

I love the VC... I dont know if its just my computer or if its the FS but the VCs in the planes in FS2004 were rubbish compared to this... Apart from that, looks like they "slapped on a new paint job". I like hearing that about the Beech, true that in FS2004 it was very unstable...

Cool pictures! I feel that the flight dynamics in the CRJ-700 are a bit sensitive though, had a little trouble with it
