PSS A320 and F1 ATR People needed!
« on: August 28, 2006, 07:29:46 pm »
Ok, I recently bought these two aircraft, because I'd like to fly the A320 and ATR, and also the ATR 72 is going to be back on EuroHarmony soon, but I'm having really bad problems with them. Here are the problems:

1: PSS A320:
whenever I take off, I suddenly crash back down into the ground. Everything fails slowly, and I can't control steering or pitch, so I don't know what to do.

2: ATR 72-500:
My main problem with this is Navigation. I have great difficulty with this, because with freeware, I usually use the GPS or something, or if it's all VOR's, I can navigate between VOR's but, with Payware, I usually program the FMC, the route shows up on the navigational display, and I follow that route it's drawn, but on the ATR, when I program the FMC, no route shows, so I don't know where to go. Then, the whole route is just Intersections, and I have no idea how to navigate between intersections.

Matt,

The PSS A320 has odd flight dynamics and there are some replacement .air files available, such as the one by Pedro Oliveira available on Avsim:

http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=56761

Download this (or another version) and paste it into your A320 folder then make sure you replace the "sim=" line in the aircraft.cfg file with the new air file name and this should help you...

Also make sure you fly the PSS tutorials for this aircraft as Airbuses are different to Boeings in many ways and you need to ensure you understand the different throttle system and selected vs managed modes on the autopilot or it won't do what you want it to.

As for the ATR, again I'd have to say, read through the manual as this explains all the options for using FMC and displaying differing amounts of info on the ND.

The short version is to open the Captain's EFIS panel on the panel switcher and use the RNV button to select the FMC as driving the NAV option on the autopilot and press the MAP button to toggle the display so your flightplan shows on the HSI...

It's a big manual to read but worth it as the ATR-72 is a very enjoyable aircraft to fly once you've got the hang of it!

Good luck :P

Thanks! I have just changed the aircraft.cfg to those two files, so luckily everything will be ok! I'm just starting FS, and for once, no file problems!;D

i was actually thinking about having a go at that ATR again (the ATR 42) but that's going to be later on!

I just discovered something. It only fails if I've got it on 2D panel.

Matt,

Have you resolved this ? I've been up in my EHM A320 (using the PSS panel) and also in my PSS A320 and couldn't find any obvious conflicts between the IFDG model and the PSS panel... Hope you've got it working now :P
