New Hub

hi guys - how often do you add on new hubs? may i make a suggestion for the future and ask that you make 'Dublin' a future possibility? With a new terminal after being approved i think Dublin will become a fantastic airport facility! Terminal Two is to be operational by 2009 and will cater for up to 15 million passengers a year almost doubling the indicated number of people travelling to Dublin. I know Terminal 2 is a few years away but i still think Dublin would be a worthwhile venture for Euroharmony! Imagine travelling Ireland using VFR and seeing the beauty of this country!  I'd love to hear managements opinion and those of all the pilots as to what they think...  Just a suggestion mind you ;D     Even maybe get some suggestions from everyone as to what hub they would like to see open as well as responding to my idea

Next focus of attention is likely to be somewhere in Europe, and as Dublin is quite close to LL, im not sure if it is a realistic choice, but I would like to see a few routes connecting it with European cities and perhaps even Africa.

Guys, I'm not trying to be the fireman and pour water on the discussion......

It is very early days yet as far as a new Hub goes. (If it happens in the near future at all!)

Our main focus has to be to sustain the Hubs we have. You have seen how long it can take to iron problems out after a hub is introduced, only now are we able to operate a full service on PP from KATL!

Germany was mentioned and I am sure many other places will get mentioned long before any decisions are reached so let’s not get too excited or for that point start thinking that Germany will be the next hub.... It's a long way off and I am sure discussions will rumble on for a long time before anything gets decided.

Not wanting to bang the same drum over and over, every bodies priority is the general well being of our airline and an unsubstantiated expansion program will leave the MT short on manpower and the pilots short on motivation so at this time, I would appeal to everyone to look at what we have got and work hard to make it the best there can be, only when our current hubs have reached their maximum potential should we consider more.

Nicely said Phil.

We have now as you know reach 160 active pilots. The small task of getting from 100 to 160 active pilots has taken more then a year. I think all should wait and see what the furture brings. As Phil said we have only just now fixed the flight logger problem with KATL. And it would be nice to have some more pilot there, plus at some of the "smaller" hubs. Let give KATL at least 6 month to a year to expand before we begin to talk about expanding anywhere in the world.

I'll agree with Karsten's sentiments here.

It took us the best part of two years to get KATL up and running, and it's not even had a year to bed in (far less if you take FLogger support into consideration).

Now that we have FLogger support for KATL, and the KATL hub manager is "back on the ground" and able to get his pilot numbers up again, I think it's going to be another year maybe before we'll be in a position to say whether KATL is a success or failure.

Let's all be patient until next year before we start on this road "in anger".
