Flights to UGTB TBILISI
« on: October 11, 2006, 08:01:13 pm »
I was going to fly EGLL to UGTB, I generated the route in Route Finder, but was not able to generate the flight plan in either FS Build, FS Nav, FS Commander or the FS 2004 Flight Planner as the ICAO UGTB does not appear in any of them. The closest Airport is UGGG Tbilisi, I have looked in Google and both ICAO's appear, and when you look at the co-ordinates for the 2 airports they are 8 seconds apart, are these the same airport where one has been re- named??

Errr...that can be the problem:

...photo taken SE of Tbilisi on Google Earth. I do not know which one is which :P but it seems there are 2 airports there ! I guess the smaller one to a little SE is a military one... maybe that is UGGG.

Hi Bruce,

That could be the case.... Here is where I got my data for most of the updates and usually if an Airport is unused or has a ICAO code change it tells you.
http://gc.kls2.com/airport/UGTB
Anyway, so I did a little digging and found that I may have been ahead of the game..... UGTB is now an active code, UGGG is obsolete! Next time you update your Airacs (0611) this should be corrected...... Maybe....

Phil
Looking at the link you supplied for UGTB the name of the airport is Lochini and that is the name that is given to UGGG, so I think that they are the same airport, I will have to wait for AIRAC 0611, or fly to UGGG

Bruce, I have it on good authority that these airports are indeed one and the same! There seems to be some confusion over the correct current ICAO code at the moment so I would go ahead and substitute with UGGG for the time being. Sorry about that.

Cheers,

Phil
