Well, I could have been the first victim. After thunderstorms and turbulence it all settled and I was sitting on a stable approach att 500 ft, ca 120 kts with 3-4 nm left. Then the infamous GMT bug hit and reloaded the scenery. When it came back I had the nose up 20 degrees and a speed of 102 kts. I was not captain enough to recover. It still hurts... :8

It's because the difficulty Brian.

The event is very complex and many things can go wrong. So I decided to open an exception on this event.

It's too late for me to jump in a spare plane I guess since I crashed at the first leg. Well, I'll enjoy the normal PP for now and will be looking forward to the next event. This one was really inspiring! Thanks to all involved, dispite my short flight time. :)

Loved the tension when the thunder and turbulence came and I knew I had to get her down in one piece. Not the usual "if it works, it works"...

Hi Christian,

Normally we try to unsuspend you as soon as possible.

Another thing, I just made the flight from Entebbe to Mbarara and I strongly suggest:

1. Take 20% fuel.

2. On the direct path (via GPS), you will approach via the runway 29. On the final leg you have a small mountain there. So, on the approach, don't descend (until you see the runway) bellow 6500ft !

3. Pass over th runway, and do the approach turning right to the runway 11.

I almost crashed against that small mountain because i was 5800ft and I was with low visibility.

Just missed one day yesterday and realised that there is almost no slack in this event at all :( I now have to make a flight a day until the 22nd November and there has to be 24hrs between flights on Pro-Pilot ... surely this, with take-off time makes the turn arounds impossible. It's 6.30pm now... so, say I put in a one hour flight... tomorrows can't go before 7.30pm and therefore by the time I come towards the end of the event I won't be able to meet the 24hr rule and make the flights.

Apart from anything, the likelihood of me managing to free an evening for flight every day for 2 wks is slim. Very concerned I (and I guess others like me) may drop out of this part way through which is a shame when we see how much work has gone into the preparation of the event. Never mind ... tonight's flight is reserved ... will try to get this short third leg flown this evening.

Phil, you can make back-to-back PP flights as long as you are taking off from where you just landed (I just did, in fact) Only thing you might need to do is close the FLogger once you complete the first flight, go onto the PP site and lock the second flight, then start the FLogger again so it notices the new lock. I'm all caught up now (at HUMA, lovely vis approach, just keep the approach speed low - 130 with full flaps, max autobrakes, and reversers as soon as the main gear is on the deck) and get to have a slack day tomorrow ;)

Hi my friends,

I just wanna tell you that after Mabarara, the worst part has passed.

From now on you just have (if my mind doesn't play tricks) one more visual landing at a soft aerodrome later. The rest is to international/very popular airports ;)

Regards and congratulations for being until here! Definately this is the most difficult event ever!

Yay!!! I love this event but in all honesty the grass runways are killers ;) I think the hardest part about landing on grass runways is that they are not clearly visible from the air. When I landed today at HUMA I was not able to see the airport until I was 3 miles from it!! Of course, I had to make a go around.

This has been a wonderful event so far, I've flown over some of the most beautiful countryside I've ever seen in FS. Middle East, here I come...

Wow....just landed successfuly on that bloody grass of HRYU-after going arround three times. This airport's approach is really tricky.

Bruno. I don't know what should be wrong, but I got some penalties for my last two flights for some unknown reason, since I am 100% sure I didn't make a mistake I am accussed for., let say: no beacon on and engines started and similar.

Peter

Hi,

The beacon lights problem normally is related with you use the "auto-start engines" mode (CTRL+E).
To avoid it do the following thing:

With your cold and dark panel do:

1. Turn on all the generators.
2. Turn on all the lights except the LAND one.
3. Start MANUALLY the engines by clicking-and-hold on every engine until the N2 fires up (select EI2 on the right PFD for this).

This way I can assure you don't get beacon penalties. If you start with CTRL+E then you get it somehow ...

Hi. another victim....eheheheh

I crashed on final approach rwy 14 at HKNW (leg 7)....

I was too low and there is a tree near the beginning of the rwy.....and i was thinking....if i pass inside the tree, will Propilot remark that as a crash?.....eheheheheh...now i know the answer.....it is yes..........CRASH.

When i sent the crash report....i received an error ( duplicate key 1234)....i don't know what this means....

Now i must wait to see if i can continue the event after the suspension days....

Something is not right, because i'm not able to send this crash report.

I tried 4 times and when i confirm to send, i see this line:

"Duplicate entry '32767' for key 1"

After this, each time i enter in ProPilot Division, i'm advised to send the crash report.

So i think the report is not going his way out......

@Javier: Nope, that leg is to be made by night ;D

@Luis: Solved out. We had send that number of emails on the system :) .. And the variable that identifies that quantity reached to his maximum.

hi bruno/peter,

i had this problem when i did my first pro pilot flight and the simplest suggestion to fix it is as follows:

when parked at the gate with engines and lights off - just press the 'L' button on your keyboard this will turn on all lights including beacons and then continue to press CTRL+E to start your engines - you should get no error message for beacon lights not being turned on.

It worked for me so hope it helps ;D
