Bomb in T4 at Madrid Airport.

This morning there has been an exposion of a bomb at the parking of the Terminal 4 of Madrid-Barajas International Airport. Over 20 people were slightly injured and 2 more people are missed.

I feel very sorry for the casualties, and I can not understand the porpouses of the terrorists by doing this kind of criminal actions. The damage in the terminal building was noticeable. Some cars parked where the bomb exploded got a fire as you can see in this video:

Air Traffic was closed in T4 since the very moment of the explosion, although the other terminals were working normaly. At about 13:30 in the afternoon, the T4 was re-opened to public and aircrafts. As result of this, some flights were cancelled as well as many delays.

hmm, I had a feeling that things were too quiet recently. Saddam Hussein has taken up all the news here, so thanks for bringing that to my attention Jose.

I'm interested in politics, but usually the terrorist would go for something big, which is why I don't understand why a terrorist would put a bomb in the car park. I can't read spanish, so could anybody tell me if it was a mistake for it to go off there, or if it was on purpose.

It was a Spanish terrorist group which want seperation from Spain.

I sincerely, don´t understand the final purpose of the terrorists.

Here is a little summary; Since last March, there was a cease of fire, empowered by the aim of the goverment of stablishing a way of negotiation in order to reach the end of the terrorist organisation. Lately, everything seemed that the process was "paused" because there are a lot of people who don´t agree with negotiating with terrorists and there is a lot of pressure in the Parliament. And maybe, this morning action by the terrorist wanted to hurry-up the goverment in keep on going ahead with the process, although in my personal opinion this is not the way of solving problems; I mean by planting bombs, but also; and which I think is more important; as democrat, because democracies must not negotiate with terrorists.

Apart from that, there still the casualties (over 1,000 in almost 40 years) and the damage to facilities, like in the airport this very morning.

why do the terrorists keep doing this? now that they bombed the terminal, they cant be let out of the country as have to be punished for this, right?

I don't know very much the whole story between ETA (the Terrorist group) and Spanish gouvernment. Anyway when on going discussions occur you have always part of the people (on both sides) that are not willing to reach a peacefull solution. Remember what happened in Israel,  where Yitzhak Rabin was killed while the peace agreement was very much close to be signed.

What are the real motivations of such acts ? You, I, We won't know. Politic is such a "dark side of the moon".  Money and Power are quite often big part of those motivations.

Is it the case here ? Who knows ? :%

Terrorism, war and any kind of violence  are never a solution in any case.
