I was controlling as EGLL_A_TWR, so here are the pics I got!:

Just showing how busy the airport is:

A close up of the traffic:

At this point, I swithed to IVAI, so here is what the traffic is like from the outside:

After 3 hours of waiting, our first EHM plane shows up! Piloted by Tim Berry:

Tim flaring before touch-down!:

A view from the eye, IVAE of the traffic:

Here, we have Tom on approach, but his computer crashed while on finals:

Finally, a picture of the traffic at the end of the event:

It was a fun event, although it was a shame not many EHM pilots showed up.

Comments appreciated!;D

Conrad, is that vista beta? Very nice pics, I am sorry if I missed it out, but I haven't been flying for 6 months and I don't feel like starting directly online, especially during an event like this.
Ciao

Nice shots guys!

Would I be able to connect to IvAc on one computer, and then IvAp on another computer to use a set up like Matt has?

Very nice picture. I was planning to start from EHAM to EGLL, unfortunatelly, while connecting to IVAO seems that there was some Network outage and i was not able to get answer from EHAM_DEL nor others EHAM controllers. :[
SO I decided to persue my Danube Tour instead :[ But not online. Hope next time I can attend. By the way, which IVAO server do you use. I always have problems while connecting to French one.

I used the German server. It was quite strong, although alot of people on ground kept on contacting me saying they couldn't contact ground.

yes, IVAI. You connect as a controller, and then connect on FS, and it counts the connection as 1, but the first connection is the primary one, meaning the one you will show up as. So, my tower online wouldn't show up as a plane. It'd be considered part of my connection as the controller.

In other words, it gives you a tower view in FS. Since I was just controlling inbounds, I stayed on FS more than IVAC. I could read the persons callsign, see where all the traffic is, and see when they've vaccated the runway. The only thing I needed IVAC for was to see how far separated the planes were, which was very important at one point. A plane nearly collided because he didn't follow my instructions.

But what if I want IVAC on one PC and FS2004 on another PC, how will that work?

I'm not sure myself. If the two screens are counted on the one computer, the connection will apply to both screens, so you could start IVAI on both sides, start IVAC, and hopefully the connection will show up on both screens. If that can happen, then you could use the other screen to start up FS, but I'm not totally sure. Since Murray has a two screen setup, maybe he could explain this better.

No, it wouldnt work that way.

IVAi acts as a proxy and just allows two connections to show as one. If you had it running on two computers, then it would show 4 as 2 etc.

Bear in mind that you will only be able to appear as a Control Tower, not able to fly...

You can do it over a network:

Start IVAi on one pc, choose IVAC to look for "Localhost" (instead of the server list). Then when connecting in flight sim, choose the networked pc's IP eg : 10.0.2.1.

This should then work.

The IvAi manual says that it can be used both to supply a radar for a pilot, and to supply a tower view for a pilot. It also says that the PC does not have to be the same for each component.

I think this should work:

1. Run IvAi on any of the PCs. Better to do it on the one that will be under less load or has the faster connection. Connect IvAi to your chosen server.

2. Start whichever program relates to what you want to do (FS for flying, IvAc for controlling) and then connect it to IvAi. To do this type localhost as the server address if IvAi is running on the same computer as the program, or if it is on the other computer enter it's IP address instead.

To find the IP address for a computer, type ipconfig into a command prompt on that computer.

3. Start the other program. Connect it to IvAi in the same way as above.

4. Go fly/control.
