whenever i go onto the PP login page, it gives me an error, same as when i go onto some other login pages or forum pages like the FSP forum, however, the EHM forum is still accessible to me.

Whats the error message?
You may want to try another browser, i know it says it only works with IE but at least for me, it works with Opera...

Hi Javier,

Same question: what was the error message? As a hint, in IE when you get the error page, starting with "The page cannot be found" or similar, most of it is a bunch of mostly useless advices, but the most important information is quite at the end, such as "HTTP 404 - File not found". This is the clue to the error cause.

Cheers

it was a pop-up error message, saying

"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve internet explorer. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous.

To see what data this error report contains, click here"

and in the error report,

"Error signature
AppName: iexplore.exe
AppVer: 7.00.5730.11
ModName: nppw.dll
ModVer: 2006.1.0.54
Offset: 000390l1"

There is a detailed error report which says that this file below is included in the report:
C:\DOCUME~1\COMPAQ~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\6f2c_appcompat.txt

Thanks for your help ;D

Oops! I should have thought better before asking...

In this case my best (and fastest) shot is to back up Mariano's suggestion, it is VERY unlikely that the same happens with a different browser.

Of course, if I was Microsoft, I would first suggest that you may have missed some patch - but I'm not ;D .

At this stage, even if there was a site application error involved (could be some JavaScript problem), it's treated so "unfriendly" that I doubt anyone could find it by the "report" provided by IE. By the other hand, it's likely that another browser reports such an error more accurately.

A more elaborate solution would be to enable JavaScript error logging in the IE, with the hope that an error could be raised before that very fatal crash. This error could help further investigation...

Sorry I could not be of much help. Besides, not flying the F1 event myself, I cannot test to see whether I get the same "result".

Cheers

I installed IE7 after it started happening yesterday, didnt help :[

1) It happened at the FSP forums, where i think its the reply to message part causing the crash
2) login and also post reply on Sinvacc's forum
3) Airline Mogul (airline simulation game, like airline tycoon ;D )login page
4) my blog which i think its because of the tagboard.
5) EHM PP login page

so if all these use the javascript thingy, it should be the problem causing all this?

is there any way to solve this? like reinstalling java or something :s

Thanks again!

As it seems problems appear at login, it may have something to do with cookies. This could explain why the problem did not disappear, as close versions of IE use for sure the same cookie mechanism. (And that's why I think another type of browser should work).

Unfortunately I have IE6 not 7 and settings don't look alike but the places you should look at are in Tools/Internet options, then:

- Advanced/Browsing to check you have all debug/trace features enabled (which could provide more clues)

- Privacy/Advanced to view & change cookie settings (maybe you should "Always enable session cookies")

Moreover, persistent cookies are files in the OS so your problem may also be related to disk space overload (there is a predefined disk space for cookies) or user rights (especially if anything of the kind changed recently).

One possibility (not obviously any solution but easy to do) is to delete cookies in Tools/Internet Options/General. The only drawback is that you need to remember all passwords on sites you visit, as the associated cookies will be lost.

Hope this helps (as you can see, I'm far from understanding what happens :[ )

Hi Javier

Do you have Norton Internet Security installed?

Because the ModName: nppw.dll is where you have problems, and this dll belongs to Norton Intenet Security.

But i'm not a software expert........ just google 'nppw.dll'..

Cheers

just did a google search at home (the above post was from in the school), seems like it only happened on the 24th, no earlier. I'll just wait and see the solutions posted on that website's forum :]
