Cobalt European pilot?

Some time ago...about eighteen months probably I thought I had done all needed for a cobalt european pilot award but clearly still not quite met the standard. Since then I have completed the capitals of europe tour but still not attained the cobalt european pilot. I kinda thought the two might go hand in hand. HELP! What am I missing here. All ideas gratefully received for any countries I may have missed on the european capitals tour that are necessary for the cobalt european pilot award.

Irritating hey daniel. I sort of think I've probably missed one and am hoping somebody with a little more experience than me may be able to enlighten me as to which far flung european outpost I need to fly and return in order to hit the nirvana of cobalt european pilot :) If not I'll have to try the world tour and see if that works...if this happens expect the same question in about three years time ;)

Well as far as I recall if you have the European Capitals you should have the Cobalt European Pilot but we will have to wait for official confirmation from Bruno, Maarten or Murray who can look at the scripts!

Hi,

I spent a few days too trying to figure out what places are among the 40 required but not included in the capitals tour. Eventually I got the award after flying to/from Gibraltar, Israel and Greenland (in this order, plus the completed tour).

So I may be wrong, but I think that the "european" airports are those starting with B, E and L. This could explain why the capital tour is not enough because it contains the 3 U: Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. The ICAO Europe is a little different from the political one :)

But again, only the code behind the award engine can tell for sure...

Cheers
Andrei

That is the best advice ever. Many thanks Avat. I'm going to make those flights my next priorities and will report back. Wouldn't it be great to know that the european capitals tour plus those countries you mention makes the european cobalt award.

Cheers.

If you have completed the European Capitals Tour, then you should have been awarded the Cobalt Pilots badge since the tour covers all the countries (to my knowledge - at least that's how I got it!). If not, we can manually add it after the scripts have been checked ;)

I can confirm that when you finish the CapEuro tour you should indeed get both it and the Cobalt Pilots badge (assuming you've not previously flown to all 40 countries), and all I can say is "Poo!", 'cause I was sure we got this one fixed...

I'll sort the award for you Phil (EHM-1199) and have *another* look at the award script...

EDIT: Awards applied to both Phil and Daniel. Anyone else, just let me know here, otherwise wait for the repairs I'll be making to the award script tomorrow...

LOL. Thanks Murray. This stuff shouldn't matter I guess but I was so focussed on visiting these countries and when it didn't click did the tour which took eighteen months for me and still it didn't register. Thanks for being my knight in shining armour...shall we ride off into the sunset together :)

Oops! Looks like I had it all wrong :[

At the time of my tour I thought I was clever enough to leave 2 days between flights, in order to be sure which one triggers the prize... only to learn now that my subtle deductions were beaten by the cold script mechanics.

There is only one thing I can do to take my revenge :@ : the world tour! (soon enough, you'll see...)

Cheers

There's an "oops" and a wait needed... both silver and cobalt it as mea culpa... forgot that the current award list page lists all you awards, not the highest "ranking" awards... will just need to have a quick fiddle in the DB to correct that.

As for the avatar badge that should update itself on it's next run ('bout 1600z if memory serves)

Thx Murray.

I am now an overqualified happy bunny :)

Now I'm torn...I want to start the world tour...the new tour sounds great and I've registered for the Pro-Pilot jolly about to set off. Choices...choices....choices... I like life at EHM :)

I'm "-||-" this close to swearing out loud on the forum... Might take me a little while to correct your missing award Tarik, but you will receive it, I promise.

UPDATE: Ugh, I *so* love having to do "hand crafted" SQL statements in MySQL to fix these little niggly things. You should have the award now Tarik, may take another 24 hours for your avatar to notice though.

Well,

the magic fairy sometime has problems with her wristwatch, but she never forgets :)

EDIT You have the award in your profile but it doesn't appear in your avatar. I'll check with Murray on this one and let you know.

Well done Javier

The award/avatar script only runs once per day in the early hours so if Sotiris awarded this award today then the award will show up on your avatar award display tomorrow......

Do you think I could get the word Award in to that sentence any more times?
