Need some Class4 help
« on: September 04, 2007, 03:21:39 am »
Ok so i'm beggining to fly jets for EuroHarmony.

Tried the Embraer and after reading much of it's documentation, found it a really fun plane to ride, except it's autopilot. It does some weird stuff sometimes and doesnt do what i want it to do. Like set it to hold 9000', then when its reaching 7000' maybe i get cleared to climb to FL170, so i set it now for FL170, but it stops at 9000' like if i didnt change anything. I found that i have to disconnect and reconnect the altitude hold so it will work. Any ideas with this?

Then i tried the Fokker and its another really fun plane to fly, love to land it, runs really smooth. My only doubt would be, why is there a high pitched warning siren when i'm about to take off?
I didnt find much documentation for it with it's installation, so I used what I thought was a good t/o configuration. Flaps 15, trim OK, autobreaks RTO, all lights on, no spoilers, and still i get the siren like if there was something not OK for Takeoff. Anyone can tell me what am I missing here?

**edit**
Ok so i was browsing some other thread about the Fokker making the sim crash (it was doing the same thing to me, but i got around it by chosing any plane, pressing fly now, and then changing into the fokker while in-game) where this > http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/~aircraft/panels/PF10070v2_panel-sound.zip  should fix it... Well it did fix it, but now i have a little problem where my EICAS gauge doesnt show colors for the little bars (green-orange-red) and no bars at all for the EPR. Im getting angry :@

Hello Mariano,

no need toget angry mate, things aren't as bad as they seem :]:]:]:]
So, regarding the Fokker, my experience was that I also had problems until I nstalled the Project Fokker planes ehich can be found at Project Fokker Page on Avsim
There you will find a wealth of info like checklists, a tutorial flight and much more.

Regarding the horn you get before take-off it has to do with your configuration. Quoting from the official checkride's checklist:

BEFORE TAKE-OFF

20.  Set flaps to 8°

21.  Press the AP DISC button  to activate the main autopilot system.

22.  Turn the IAS/M knob until it reads 250 in the display. Use mouse left/right buttons or wheel.

23.  Turn the ALT knob until it reads 4,000 in the display. Use mouse left/right buttons or wheel.

24.  Turn the HDG knob until it reads 240 in the display. Use mouse left/right buttons or wheel.

25.  Turn the CRS knob until it reads 186 in the display, which is the exact runway 19R heading for ILS use.

26.  Press the A/T button to engage auto thrust which gives a green light (AP DISC must be pressed).

27.  Press the AP1 or AP2 button to engage autopilot which gives a green light (AP DISC must be pressed)

28.  Toggle the FD switch to ON which gives the pink colored crossbars in the upper CRT.

So, following this the sound should be eliminated. (Disregard the course and heading setting as they are only applicable for rwy 24 at Schiphol)
Let me know how you get on.

I'll know turn to looking for some answers on the Embraer. As soon as I find out, I'll post the details here.

The siren you hear at t/o is probably because of the fact that your aircraft is overweigh. Decrease the payload and/or fuel and you'll be fine. I also recommend you to download the major update that can be found here: http://www.avsim.com/fokker/F70100.htm

And be sure NOT to miss the Project Fokker checkride, I found it most valuable for learning how to fly a jet.

I could swear i posted something here and it didn't show up.

Anyways, after uninstalling and reinstalling and overwriting a lot of files here's what i have:
The gauges for the EPR and N1 and N2 are all there, color coded, everything working
The sound for V1, V2, and the T/O buzzer that was bugging me, dont work anymore. I think i didnt install that part of the EHM installer (sounds) cos for some reason it was making my FS9 crash. I can live without them.

Do you guys know why the Embraer's AP behaves so randomly?
