I'm pretty sure that everyone knows what's going on in Burma, but I'll quickly explain it and then get to my point.
Burma is led by a militant group named the Junta (said Hunta). They have been starving the country for years and keeping money and not helping the poor. Recently, they increased prices for many important things, therefore the Buddhist Monks in Burma have started a peaceful protest and want the Junta to either step down and let Aun Sung su Kyi become the leader of Burma, or give the people better lives and stop what is currently going on.
In my opinion, the Junta is not a good parliament and Burma deserves better, and I don't see why the Junta won't use force against the Monks.
Anyway, my point is I am part of a Buddhist organization as I am a Buddhist myself. Even though we are not of the Burmese TheravÄdan section, we are Japanese Soto Zen, we want to help the monks in Burma. Today, I recieved a letter from somebody in our organization saying that there is going to be a march in Central Birmingham on 14th October so we can show our support. I will be going, and many of my friends will be going.
What I ask of you people is if there is a march or something going on in your local area, please try to help and get rid of the Junta. The majority of us are lucky to live in Democratic societies and it would be nice to make Burma one of them.
You don't need to be from Burma or be a Buddhist to join in.
Just for the record, I do not intend for this letter to be as "spam" of any sort. I am just asking everyone to please try help free Burma.
