Saab 2000 problems
« on: November 27, 2007, 06:45:23 pm »
I did my last Class 1 rank flight with the Beech 1900D, what a delightful a/c!!! and better than the SU80. But that was my last C1 flight, so now I downloaded my Class 2 a/c.

I tried a test flight with both, the Dornier is ok although the panel a bit empty but just ok. Don't know about the flight dynamics, how realistic it is.

However the Saab 2000 is a scrapyard a/c. It is in principle a nice one I would like to fly, love its lines. The panel however is a bit empty.

But the main problem with the SAAB 2000 is that it is not airworthy :-) I had this exact saab months ago with another livery and had to remove it. Several of the panel items are just not working, one can switch COM 1/2 but there is no way the NAV1 frequency can be changed, several of the hotspots are dead, they show it is a hotspot but are inoperable.

Also I think the gauges are not quite right and buggy. When on the ground the VOR needle was jittering a lot +/- 5 degrees or so. Also I noticed one can crash the a/c (no worries it was an offline test flight) nose down (30 degrees) and one would still hear the engines running even though the propellers are not moving anymore. Maybe it is time to retire that a/c and find something better.

I had previously also the nice Saab 300 but unfortunately it also suffered from bad dynamics. I guess I will have to do my next 10 hours in the Dornier :(. Can't wait to fly the a/c I have put already 80 hours on (Boeing 737).

Didimo,

I appologise for your problems, this sort of problem is becoming more and more apparent but unfortunately we are not able to a great deal as we are not aircraft modellers, we have to rely on freeware that is in the public domain and "freely" down-loadable.

Robert and his team (Tamas & Janos) try to ensure the freeware models we use are of the highest possible quality but we are limited as high quality freeware panels are not in abundance for airliners.

You can try looking in the forums at BSMP who make that aircraft, others may be experiencing your problems and fixes may be available:
http://www.bsmp.co.nz/
Let us know if you have any joy with that.

If you know of any good replacement panels or aircraft, please feel free to contact robert@fly-euroharmony.com as we are constantly on the lookout for new content and equipment.

Again, our appologies for your problems, I am sure you will be back in your beloved B737 before you know it! Once you make the progression to jets and you have the ability to start flying longer flights in aircraft like the E170, Fokker 70, EMB145 & Bae 146 (I suggest you stay away from our Falcon 50 as from your prior experiences, I have a feeling you will hate this plane!) the hours will fly by and you can start flying mission and tours to help build your log book up. We also have a few new things coming up for Christmas that may just be right up your street!

Enjoy, stick with it, it will be worthwhile in the end!

I have flown the 2000 in several occasions and dont remember it having as many bugs as you mention mate. Remember that all of these planes are different and take some time to get used to, for example, figuring out the Embraer 170's autopilot behaviour took me some hours of testing...
Then again, i liked the Beech 1900D so much that i almost overlooked Class 2 and went from Beech to ATR.
