Hi folks. On the approach to EDDH (Turning final rwy 23) I got an incredible overspeed from 220 IAS to over 300 IAS which resulted in serious penalties on pro pilot. I am using a payware A320 with EHM livery. I had to shut down both engines and extend full speed brakes to bring this bird back to a reasonable speed. I then had to restart the engines and I finally made it. Have any of you folks had this sort of thing as well? The flight was great and I was looking forward to a great rating until this happened:@

Hi Dimitri
Turning onto finals at 220 Kts is a bit high, I normally turn onto finals at about 180 kts, approaching as high as 220 kts can cause you to overshoot the localizer, another reason you may have problems at this speed is that when you turn onto finals, you are more than likely turning into a head wind and if it is a strong head wind your airspeed will increase rapidly, and due to the fact that some of the autothrottles are not quick enough to respond to this rapid increase in airspeed you could experience the problem you suffered. If you purchased the license for FSUICP you would be able to limit the rate of change of the wind under normal flight conditions, however in your case it would not have helped because the increase in airspeed was due to the aircraft changing direction and not the wind changing direction. Hope this helps.

Hello Dmitri,

I guess too it came mainly from weather setting. Another possible reason for that is the in-built online weather download that can push MS weather engine crazy. But anyway, if you are sure the plane kept 220kts, it is almost impossible to hit a 50kts headwind close to ground, unless you try to land in a thunderstorm. Next time you can check the weather at destination airport, and you can still go to your alternate airport... it is not only more real and acceptable than screw the plane into the runway all the way, but also safer solution for a better PP score. ;)

I think it is not a good tactics to shutdown engines mid-air, only because of a high speed penalty. You could made a go-around and be more cautious for the 2nd try. If it is bad down there, it is not necessary to land for the 1st try ! Also, if you feel that the autothrottle gone nasty, you can quickly turn it off by Ctrl+R, and idle the power, and give some seconds to the plane until it slowed down. If you feel it is still not enough, then simply go around and try it again. ;)

Hi guys. I have the registered FSUIPC as well. The strange thing was that the WX was 100/05 which is nothing. With regards to 220kts, ATC asked me to hold that speed to the OM. I was on a 15 odd mile final and then suddenly - overspeed. I did do a go around but my rating now is extremely low. I will try it again tonight and see if it re-occurs.

BTW, Navigraph have announced that AIRAC 0713 is available for those who use it.
Regards
Dmitri

I got a penalty for 5661 EDDH-EDDM just now. It showed that I exceeded 4500fpm on the descent! I descended with the optimum descent on the bus which was about 2300fpm and then reduced as I reached the new FL.
Just a wierd question: Could it have something to do with my payware and the EHM livery (I know it sounds stupid) but I have run out of ideas. My fsuipc settings are correct. While I am on that topic, being an idiot now and again, I deleted my reverse thrust key (F2) and now I cannot find out which function it is to reinstall it :$

Well, the livery cant cause it for sure ;) It maybe a buggy record of data, or a scenery error (even in-flight).

Reverser is at Keyboard assignments: Engine Commands / Throttle Decrease Quickly ;)

Dmitri,
are you keeping the A/T on during approach?
Hector

Good pilots keep their number of landings equal to their number of takeoffs. Takeoffs are optional but landings are Mandatory.

Hi. A/T is on. I am going to uninstall and then re-install the aircraft. Hopefully it should sort itself out.

Hi Dmitri,

I may have news soon because I think I just bought the same payware A320. Expecting delivery now.

Because of this thread I will definitely not try it on ProPilot first ;D

As far as virtual network(s) weather is concerned, I met too really wild wind variations causing airspeed to go up / down with more than 50kts, but never at such a low altitude (I assume EDDH is still where I've last seen it on the map :) ).

The descent rate trouble could look like an aircraft + FSUIPC bug, which as I mentioned, I will be able to check for myself soon enough :) ( or :[ - we will see... )

Thanks. Today was even worse. On takeoff engine #2 failure. Tried to return to EDDM but weather below limits. Diverted to EDDF. Pro pilot had a ball with my rating today. I have emailed fleet ops because pro pilot shows CS-ESA in EDDH while I put her down in EDDF.
PS Andrei. My online blue award is not showing. I have had bad luck since I joined here. Any chance of changing my join date from the 13th Dec to either 12 or 14 Dec ;D
