No panel Saab 2000
« on: May 05, 2008, 11:43:18 am »
Hi.

I just downloaded the Saab 2000 from Class two.
There is no virtual cockpit (just "nose view") and the mainpanel is from Beechcraft 1900D. There are some download options for panels but not for FSX.
Can someone help me?

Sincerely
Ronny

At the moment we have not managed to find a suitable replacement panel, as soon as one becomes available we can work on it.

I don´t mind the panel but I´m not comfortable flying without the virtual cockpit. The other plane is for 2002 and 2004 so I´m having a litle difficulties flying class two routes :-)

Hi Ronny,

you know, not every airplane model have Virtual Cockpit ;) Mainly, because it needs to look very nice, if not, it is simply uselss to have. Therefore the modelers many times not take the risk to start a VC model at all.

It is kind of a luxury that every default have VC in FSX ;) We hope, in the future more and more new FSX models will born and also with Virtual cockpit !

I have been promoted since last post and have now downloaded the class 3 ATR 72-500. Beautiful plane. This one actually have a VC. Am I right to assume that it´s under developement? Or do I have a faulty installation?

It has the throttle, seats and a few knobs but otherwise the instruments are missing. I can move around and everything. It just looks like it´s still in the factory awaiting the panels to be installed ;D. Took it for a spin during night time and she realy is a sight.

I know I´m probably a bit spoiled ;)

The thing is that Euroharmony doesnt employ modelers. The modelers are 3rd party, the models we use are just their models repainted with the EHM colors. We rely on their effort and it would be wrong to ask any more of them because they're doing it for free. A working virtual cockpit is a lot of work... There are even payware airplanes which dont include one...

I personally can't fly without a 2d cockpit. I mean the 3d cockpit is surely nice... but unless you have a really big screen and good resolution the numbers and gizmos become unreadable, and its not the same as sitting there as the panning of the views is kinda slow and you dont access information quickly like sitting in a real cockpit. For me the 2D panels are "condensed" versions of the whole cockpit and suited enough for a simulator...

Wow, I found the other person in the flight simulation world who feels the same way as I do ;)

In this case, you should both be glad to know there are at least three of us :8 . I never did a complete flight using VC (while using FS2004, things may be different with FSX ?).

Don´t get me wrong. I am depent on the 2D panels myselfe. I switsh between main, radio, electrical ect. in 2D but like to look around from VC when nothing spesial is going on.

I actually believed all FSX planes had VC but since they don´t I will manage without ;)
However there is the issue of the stripped VC in ATC 72-500. Anyone knows what that´s about?

And thanks for your replies guys :>

Ronny

Ronny,

I don't use FSX but I'd have to guess that panels work differently in FSX than FS2004 so either the ATR-72's gauges are not compatible with FSX or they need to be put in a different place than in FS2004 - perhaps one of our FSX users can clarify this?

It´s not that important. I will soon advance to class 4 and will then be able to fly my favorite, Boeng 737-800 :-)

It´s allready installed with FSX so I´ll just change the details in its files and then replace the exterier texturefiles with the ones from EuroHarmony.

Thanks for all the replies.
I´m happy ;D

Sorry to disappoint you Ronny but you can't fly the B738 until Class 5 ;)

And our 738 is not a repaint of the FSX default aircraft, it's a plane by Project Opensky which (as far as I know) is not FSX compatible...

However, the Class 4 Embraer 170 is a lovely little jet and fully compatible with FSX - you can try her out first :P

Wendt a little ahead of myselfe there :-)

But can´t I use the FSX B738 if I repaint it and changes details in the files so the Flogger recognizes it as a EuroHarmony aircraft?
As long as the specs are consistent with Project Openskys version ofcourse.

All repaints of EHM planes have to be approved by our Fleet Manager Robert who will no doubt reply to you shortly ;)

Well, we used to say that we allow to fly only EHM painted airplanes, but in case of low support for FSX, I think it would not be fair to not allow using the default 738. If you know how to paint, and you can do it yourself that is nice too. ;)

You could also subject it to a short review by the staff and they'd surely make the repaint available and give you credit for it... right guys? :P

Thanks.
I repainted once before. I replaced the texture bmp files for the fuselodge in the FSX-plane with the ones from the other version. Then edited a couple of files to make the right manufacurer appear in the different options in the selection window and is credited and so on.

When you say I should subject it to a short review I´m not quite sure what you mean. The language barrier you see ;D

Mariano's suggesting you send the completed repaint to Robert and he can see what it looks like. If he thinks it's good, he could let other pilots use it as an official repaint.

This will of course be down to Robert and future Fleet plans ;)

Yeah, spot on Dominic... and since we dont have a 737-800 for the FSX fleet this would come in handy.
I just wished I had a machine to run FSX on :P

OK. I have finished painting the FSX B738. It took me a while as the FSX default textures are completely different than the previous versions. Had to learn about DDS-files, DXT5, extended bitmap and all that. Anyhow, I was able to figure it out (patting myselfe on the back). ;)

Since this is my first repaint I believe I can inprove it in time. I had to actually make the whole thing from scratch in Photoshop.

I will send the whole thing to Robert and we´ll see what comes of it. Now I need to get back to flying ;D

Sincerely
Ronny

All I can say is a huge well done!!
I haven't seen the re-paint and I'd be the last one to comment on the technical merits of a repaint as my knowledge is near non-existent.
I will however congratulate you on your motivation and the time you devoted to this. Its appreciated nonetheless.

And I'm sure that the knowledge you acquired in the process is just as fulfilling as our congratulations.
