757-200 prob
« on: July 16, 2004, 01:43:00 pm »
Ok i dont know why this happens, but straight after takeoff the plane seems to try and go virtical. I have no idea why it does this. And when I pitch I've already stalled.

Could you people help me.
Thanks
Tim;)

I think many people encounter this problem. The problem may be that the autopilot is on with the altitude selector set so the aircraft is always trying to climb even when it is stationary. Try turning the autopilot on and off.

Set the pitch before you take off. ;)

Both of the suggestions are right, some planes have the original pitch made to climb, others to go downward as a default, for example I know that on the Baron 58 the pitch is originaly set so the plane goes down, so I just put the pitch wheel down totally before takeoff, (I know this well, I have more than 50 flights with the Baron, I think...). I think that another plane also behaves strange, but they are all in the VFA fleet, I dont remember any jets having these problems. Also, about the Autopilot on automatic, that happens when you finish a flight and without closing FS you start another, ususally Speed Hold is also on under those circumstances.

Cheers!

I think usually the trim settings are set in the middle at the start of the flight, so it should be going neither up nor down.  I think if you set the autopilot and turn it on whilst you are on the ground, if you have set the altitude hold, then the pitch gets changed. Then when you turn autopilot off before takeoff the pitch trim remains going upwards and this is the problem.  I think thats pretty much what everyone else is trying to say.

Anyway, I have been flying the 757-200 over the past few days and haven't had a problem, so I think maybe it is the autopilot thing.
