FS2002 vs. FS2004
« on: July 19, 2004, 08:53:58 pm »
Dear pilots,

I was thinking a lot if it worth to change from FS2002 to FS 2004. First of all, I think the major difference is between graphics.

Then lets see some shots from the same angles in same circumstances around Seattle Tacoma at 2000'

FS2002 - - - - - VS. - - - - - FS2004

I see some points. The visibility range of objects is longer in FS9, while the terrain seems to look the same. It also seems that MS used many times the same textures for FS9 as FS8. The sky in FS9 looks beatiful overall, but I think the colors of FS8 seems to be more real. FS9 looks like a painting. Also I do not like its too heavy shininess on the water...even the clouds can be seen.

So, what else FS9 knows what FS8 cannot.  Try to assure me for changing ;)

Many thx for opinions.

I think that the Weather system in FS9 is way superior. The Virtual Cockpits are fully interactive and aslo the Scenery in major cities like Sydney and Hong Kong is great. As you can also see, the water effects a rather nice aswell

Hope i helped you make up your mind

Well the airport looks a lot more real in FS9.....and then there's the cloud, those in FS8 does not look real at all while that in FS9 looks much more acceptable

There should be more things but i'm still playing FS8 right now so cant say much on this

For me there's an added bonus for getting FS9 at the end of this year when i get a new comp, and that is the discovery of a nice set of Scenery of Singapore (Freeware) but they only work in FS9

And oh i think the reason why FS9 looks like a paint is because of the clouds

The ground appears to be slighly more detailed too

the last two shots are pretty much pictures of my house. I live just on the other side of that lake and up a small hill. And about FS2004, I would go for it take a look at some of the screenshots in the forums, they are pretty incredible.
