That appears to be RJBB Kansai Intl in Osaka. That is built on, "land re-claimed from the ocean!" Very beautiful piece of architecture!

No...this is not Kansai ! Kansai have an Eagle-like terminal building and have an extremely long bridge to the land, with a superb skycraper standing in front of the bridge. And this airport is rather small, like a regional one.

Incredible isn't it. There was a bit about this in my Geography exam earlier this year. Apparently to build it they just quarried loads of soil from somewhere in the Japanese countryside, took it to the coast in thousands of lorries and then put it in ships which just dumped it on the seabed. I wouldn't like landing there though, and surely the passengers start to think 'aren't we a bit too low to be over the sea?'. :o

Really nice piece of land and technology :)

By the way the Japan is not the densest country in the world. That title goes to Hong Kong which however is not really a country right now. Coming second is Singapore (my homeland! :) :P) Over here at singapore there's quite a few of this kind of project going on all year round

I wouldn't mind landing anywhere, my life's in well trained hands, they know what they're doing ;D (as long as the ILS is properly adjusted)
