Due to my work times I will have to fly the last leg to-day about 11:00z-12:00z
or tomorrow,(Saturday) but that would be a tad risky being the last day.
Hope to see someone on line.
  Regards
  Trevor

Quick word of warning for you Trev from your friendly presidential weather service...

METAR OK at KMSO right about now, and TAF suggests it'll stay that way (no snow, excellent visibility, cloud but not a cloud base). Light snow showers at CYCG and isn't going to stop any time soon according to the TAF (low cloud base, not too good visibility). Having said that CYCG TAF is "old" (1945Z yesterday), and you'll have landed by the time the TAF is updated.

In that case, you might find someone doing circuit training @ CYCG ...  ::)

If you want the approach charts for Castlegar, [ http://charts.ivao.ca/CAP2/CYCG.pdf ], and yes, even though I went in blind, I kinda wish I'd had the plates. ;D

Thank you to EHM management for this great Wild Division Event......and for the Wild Division itself ! I started the EuroCargo Wild Special Mission flights this weekend and the routes allow for scenic, low-and-slow flight segments that keep you well focussed when you're skimming above a river in a gorge.

Bush flying is great. So,.....any plans for a floatplane in the Wild fleet  ?

Thanks and regards to all,

Thanks for the feedback Dan  :)

There are more Missions to come (which will become regular flights in the future once some technical issues are overcome) and we will indeed be looking to extend the range of bush planes available including floatplane operations. Watch this space ;)

Well then after many hardships and flying this one leg three times, The Otter Has Landed!!
(a couple days ago to be honest. Haven't had time to do the writeup)

So at first I planned to fly this one with E-J and whoever else decided to show up, which turned out to be David and then Thomas (who was landing at Castlegar with a 1900). That, as was written by E-J before, was thwarted by FSim crashing on me. However I did get some pictures from that attempt:

On the tarmac with E-J, his FSIM had the runway some 100 feet north of me.

Flying half blind through the fog. It'd get much worse ahead.

In a rare opening of visibility towards the valley heading north to Castlegar.

At some point between then and CYCG, my Fsim crashed, so I came online to let E-J know I wasn't gonna make it. I positioned my plane at CYCG and waited for these guys to arrive.
Then Thomas came on the radar but he was flying a Beech 1900D so he wasn't flying the tour leg, and approached from the north, doing a nice landing while I watched. While waiting for E-J and David, my Fsim crashed again. So I decided to give up for that day.

Next attempt was done with Trevor on saturday, last day of the tour. It wasn't without incident, either.
We started up very early, but cheating a bit, moved the time to early morning (we were flying out at 1000z, which was 0200 local time. Set my sim time to about 0730)

Climbing out, Trevor barely visible on the lower left.

More early morning flying.

Sun starts to light the path ahead.

Navigating the valleys and rivers that lead towards CYCG from the north.

At this point, Trevor's FS crashed. It seemed to be a problem with his scenary.
I proceeded to land, and he started his leg again. I then realized my leg hadn't registered in FLogger (used the old one in fear that the new FLogger was what was causing the crashes) as a ProPilot flight. So I had to re-fly again.
This time I just went from VOR to VOR not doing much bush flying and hurrying up, just wanted to finish the leg. Trevor crashed again while approaching from the south. I landed this time and submitted my PIREP. The tour was a success at last!

Approaching from the south. Runway lights faintly seen from afar...

Trevor then flew his leg and approached from the north. I stood on the tarmac waiting for him, and finally he could make his landing and we celebrated. I later learned that he didn't submit his PIREP after landing which means his leg didn't count  ;D So he flew it again in time and I think his tour is complete, too.

So to all management thanks for organizing the event, for those who joined me in my brave attempt to fly my first ProPilot event, online no less, Trevor, E-J, Murray, David, Franz, Yannick (hoping Im not forgetting anyone)

See you all next time in the skies :D

Glad to see you made it in the end, Mariano. And in time too!
Nice pics and story :)

They actually offset the PAPI's rwy33 by 12 degrees to the West just for this purpose ;)

    Hi Folks
After two “crash to desktops” approaching Castlegar, two international rugby games, the semi finals of the Tennis
and a few amber nectar’s; it was panic stations when I found out at 22:00hrs that due to the mayhem I had
forgotten to submit my PIREP. :o
I managed to complete the leg before midnight without any probs, “a close run thing”.

Thanks again to the MT for another well run event, and also to the guys for the on-line company.
And i better not forget Mariano for his extreme patience on Saturday. ;D
