Panels on all aircrafts
« on: November 10, 2004, 10:58:56 am »
Hi pilots,

I wonder if we could have panels for all airplanes that we have. We could arrange some panels from sites like flightsim.com or avsim.net ... with the respective information that we got the panel from there.
I know that we already have some panels, but not all of them.

I think it is very important not only to grab the airplane, but have the possibility to make the respective panel download on the same place.

This is an idea. Of course, I didnt think too much about this, and I dont know why we have panels on some and on other dont, but I think that having panels is all aircrafts could improve even more our VA.

Best Regards,

I can't give you answer to why we have panels for some aircraft and not for others. I would tend to agree with you on that it would be good if we could download panel and aircraft at same place. But and yes there is a but, a reason why we don't is perhaps that panels is a personal thing. Some of our pilots prefer a very technical and real to life panel, where it take all most 10 min just to turn on the panel light. Other prefer a more simple panel where everything is more or less done by the click of one botton. That would mean we should have at least two panels per aircraft. Then there the whole difference in flight sim version. And then last but not least there may also be some legal stuff involved in this, I don't know. I don't think your idea is a bad one.

Yeap, you have a point on that ... :)

It is a topic more subjective and depends on more conditions than the first I thought about.
But even with that, I think it could be a good idea, to have, at least one panel (not the perfect one) to all airplanes. I made a research on flightsim.com, and they have almost all panels to all the planes that we have. And they are freeware, that means that someone can use them... :)
We could not have to all the FS versions on all respectives airplanes, but we could have at least for one version ...

I have searched extensively on both Avsim and Flightsim sites with little success finding acceptable panels for the entire EHM fleet. I know the upper management looks at aircraft models and panels throroughly before putting them up on the site. So, I am assuming that our fleet manager is as picky as I am about panels. I don't like a nice bitmap and lousy and nonfunctional gauges. I prefer my panel to be functional and easy to use. There are literally thousands of panels available thare are just a bitmap and illogical and unrealistic gauges. It is frustrating at times. I'd rather use the MS default panels on some planes.

I am in the same opinion with Scott, I am very selective if it is about panels. Anyway, you are right about we could still have at least 1 panel LINK for every airplanes. I can tell you that I want to reform the whole fleet area. It means I want to add much more information to each aircraft, and give more support, like providing an optional panel/sound...for the aircrafts. One of the reasons was that I see many pilots that can fly big birds after their flight hours, they cannot handle it perfectly. They do not know the ranges, payloads, cruise speeds, climb rates... that are important for perfect flying.

I welcome your and anybodies ideas about improving the fleet pages.

Yep, a link for 1 panel/plane would be nice.

Any volunteers to test some?

I really manged to duff up my FS by downloading a new panel for the Boeing 737-400/500 series. I installed it into the default 737 file and found that it was a complete flop. The VC would not work

Don't do that. Always remember to store a copy of your old panel. I guess there are some truth in what people say. "real men don't take backup." :8 "Real men just cry alot." :'(

I am sorry. The panel that I tested is for Embraer 140/145 and not the Emb170. I put it on the EHM Embraer 170 and it looks fine (with dynamics info correct) but in the manual it says nothing about using it in the 170...

I will try another one from flightsim.com ....

You can see it in the next image :

If you install a panel in an other aircraft, of course the VC won't work, as the VC is contained in the aircraft's 3D model, not in the bitmaps and gauges.

Just want to say Robert that I welcome your plan. Not so much for the adding of links to panels and sound. But more the idea of adding info about ranges, payloads, cruise speeds, climb rates think that will be a good thing. And some flight dynamic so all pilots have the "same" aircraft. I know you and Scott both do a lot of fine tuning the dynamics for your aircraft so they are more in line with the real thing.

Is there a way that I could get the real panel back without being illegal or reinstalling FS
