Me in control of a cessna 172
« on: December 11, 2004, 02:14:36 pm »
Today has been one of the best days of my life. I had my first ever "hands-on" experience of flying an aeroplane.
I took off from Durham Tees valley Airport, Teeside in fs. I flew for a half an hour and was allowed to do the flight and approach. It was so cool to experience real flying.

I have developed a habit for flying through clouds and also steep turns.
Here is a picture of me and the instructor infront of the Cessna we flew in.

Congrats :) You'll see, there is nothing like your first solo ! The feeling of anxiety, being alone in the plane, the tension... And after takeoff, you forget all that, you just feel like in a dream, as if you did that all your life :)
Planning to try aerobatics afterwards ? ;)

For me I am studying for my next module in March.
For those of you who are not familiar with the shambles that is the English Education system, GCSE's are the major exams that are compulsary for all pupils in school. SATS are government tests to give an idea of placement for the GCSE classes. They are stressfull and not really nesccesary but Tim, it would be great if you did well in them to get to top sets for GCSE, like me;D:]

my first time flying i was at the controls :D brilliant experience, i'm due to take part in a gliding scholorship course so i could have solo'd before i have my driving licence :D.

this is what i usually fly:

its the grob 115e designated the "Tutor" by the RAF, they use it for initial flight training before you go on to fly in the tucano then the hawk then whatever jet ur gonna fly, if ur gonna be a fast jet pilot that is.

and the gliders:

The Grob 103 Viking, fun and easy to fly.

You should consider joining the Air Training Corps if you live in the UK, you'll get a few free flights in both the tutor and the viking. Also there's flying scholorships and the gliding ones availible, especially if you live in england, then you get more than we do up here in scotland :'( plus theres all sorts of other stuff you can do, like shooting (real rounds, .22, 5.56, 7.62) plenty of camps which are excelent, helicopter flights at camps sometimes. its fun to be in.

if your interested go to http://www.aircadets.org
