Hi, I just tought of an idea. What if Euroharmony has adverts on the site. Saying things like 'Fly to London for £50' in the site. And were the images link to all avalible flights to that certain place?

Only an idea.;)

You think about something like commercial-banners for our own fligts?
Seems to be a nice Idea.
And if you click on, you get to the flight - statistics page

Um......it might be misleading for real people looking for real flights......which would be a hassle for the management to work out and clarify.....so i don't think that will be advisable.....

Very true, would be misleading...

Besides, I dont really see much need or improvement in implementing this, just think of all the flights we have, plus putting prices on them.

If we were a small real world airline it would be great but as alex said, what would we gain from this, even if it does make us look realistic. But what is the point of a "virtual" Airline if it is tooo realistic

Maybe one positive thing stands beside the idea: if a HUB captain wants to raise the number of PIREPs on a HUB he could make an advertisement. Or, if there was a race between the HUBs that which is the most active, maybe in that case it would make sense.

Maybe suggesting them to your hub captain, such that all the pilots in that hub can send suggestions on ads for their hubs to the H.C. and he decides which one to put...

We're building something here:)

We should do a week-long HUB contest to see who can file the most PIREPS or the most hours and the winners could get...? something.

First of all somebody will need to sell this idea to the management. Or perhaps I should say someone need to sell the Idea to Gergely. I don't know this, as I'm not him. But I don't think he is going to buy it. I don't no how many of you that was around in the old days, 2002 if I remember correctly. I think Alex was around at the time I'm talking about. We had a sort of a contest back then, or should I say a top 5 of the most active pilots in the company. But that contest stop because, not all on the top 5 played fair (read cheated). I'm not saying that we have members that cheat or would do it in such a contest. But I'm saying I'm not sure we or in the last end Gergely want to open that door again. But as I said, Gergely is the man with the power.

Hi all,

Karsten is right. If we started a contest like this, cheaters would surely appear. In 2002 we had a list  about 'most active pilots' on the page and people kept cheating to get on it... and there wasn't any contest or prizes, just a list! Now imagine a contest...

Hmm......i think i should be around then......joined EuroHarmony in 2001 but was away for quite a while so i'm not sure if i've caught that particular chapter or not......sounds like a very real problem......if we can think of a way to get around that......probably not....... :!

I vaguely remember seeing the shrapnel from this in 2002 (joined January 2002, but wasn't very active on the forum back then...) and yes, there was a lot of accusation and repercussion being thrown around. It was ugly and vicious, and I for one don't want to see it repeated (think along the lines of what happened with flight hours after the Big Crash, only ten times worse...)

Anyway, we already have the last 10 PIREPs filed listed, isn't that enough fame for you all...?

I'm with Murray, on not wanting the old days back. I can only agree, there was a lot of yelling, screaming and calling each names. We may sometimes think theres a bit to quiet arond here. But I don't think any of us that have members for 2-3 year wants the forum to be like that again.

Yea I remember, but I also remember much better the time we had just when the Big Crash ended, there were a lot of accusations on cheating, many were even proven by taking the simple fact of 24 hours in a day... Anyways there are much more better contests to compete for, and the top pilots are still shown in the roster page, so I dont think we need a contest on this either.

About finding a way around the problem of cheating, its pretty much impossible, anyways, those people have to ask themselves what they do it for, after you pass 120 hrs there is no more level to aim for, and for those of you below 120 hrs and are impatient to get there for the jets, reality is youll still pass most of your time flying inside a small plane, because those are generally, funner to fly.

Cheers,

Alex;)

Well we could use Most PIREPS repported using flight Logger, I'm not sure of a way that flight logger can be "abbused"!:%

The logger isnt the solution to the problem, its a good tool but it doesnt do, tours, or flights were you pause it. So that would cancel those options (tours could be implemented, however I personally like the freedom of choosing what to do, I love the paper-pencil technique:8)

cheers,

Alex;)

Maybe a contest is not really necessary. If a HUB manager saw the pilots are not so active as needed, or desired, he could bring up an ad, so maybe the flights would increase. It is not all about a race, just some other fun. I myself like flying better, when there is an aim of the flight, like the mission flights, or EHB dynamic flights have.

Alex, as far as i know the logger does work if you pause it.....does for me anyway? At the end of the flight a little box appears on the desk top saying how long you paused for and that it will be deducted from the total flight time?????

If it would lead to a conflict or animate someone to cheat we should forget about the contest, but what´s wrong about the original idea of the banners on the site??

I think very less people would confuse us with a real-world-airline, because the first sentence in our main-page sais, that we are a VIRTUAL AIRLINE and explains what you can get with this funny group:>:>
